Principal's Message
Campo Families,
I am always thankful for our school community but during this time of year even more so. Thank you for the role you all play in creating the positive culture of Every Person, Every Day. Our administration wishes everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving Break with family. Please stay safe and well.
We would like to thank you all for doing your part to keep Campo safe. A few weeks ago we were seeing COVID numbers increasing rapidly. At this time we have been able to curve that and our numbers have declined significantly. As we go into 5 days away from school it is important to continue to practice social distancing and minimize the spread.
You can help us decrease the number of students and staff who are exposed to COVID by following the guidelines below:
Students who are living in the same household as someone with COVID should self quarantine for fourteen days. Please notify the school so that we can help your child stay caught up with their school work while they are home.
While students are waiting COVID test results they should NOT attend school or school events even if they are asymptomatic. Students should NOT return to school until they have a NEGATIVE test result in hand. We are aware that test results are taking a few days and will work with students to ensure that they stay caught up.
Please monitor your child daily for symptoms of COVID-19 which can include the following:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
You can refer to our Gilbert Public Schools website for updates and health services information. If you have any questions please let us know.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we continue to deal with this difficult situation. Have a safe and healthy Thanksgiving holiday.
Krista Cox, Ed.D.

EVIT
EVIT has opened their online application. Due to the nature of this year, they decided it would be best to open it early. Below is a video that will walk you through the application.
Sophomores can begin applying by going to evit.com/enroll. Once EVIT has all of your documents, Attendance, Discipline, Current Transcripts, and Immunizations, then your application will be reviewed and possibly accepted.
Campo's EVIT representative will be on campus twice in January to help with enrollment, but for the programs that fill up quickly (most programs offered at East Campus: Aviation, Vet Assistant, Future Engineering, East Cosmetology, East Medical Assistant, East Nursing Assistant) I would recommend you fill an online application sooner than later. To secure specific timeframes (AM or PM time slots), I would also recommend enrolling sooner.

enrollment information
Campo Verde Global Academy & Flex Students
Please take a moment to review our Global Academy/Flex Student CVHS Newsletter. This document contains frequently asked questions and updates as we wrap up the semester.
Planning on coming back to Campo full-time next semester?
Complete the enrollment steps located at https://www.gilbertschools.net/enroll
Once the form is complete, our registrar will follow up with you to enroll your student to attend a full-day of in-seated instruction at Campo Verde.
This registration must be completed by any student/family that is currently full-time Global or Flex and is planning to attend full-time in person.
Planning to attend another school either in district or out of district next semester? A parent or guardian must officially withdraw their student from Campo Verde High School. The process only takes a couple of minutes at the Attendance office. Their hours are 6:30 a.m - 3:45 pm and if you call ahead they will have the paperwork all ready for you to sign. Completing this in a timely manner will help the transition to your student’s new school.

sat/psat
CVHS will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT on Tuesday, January 26th.
This test date is only for 11th grade students. It will be during the school day, and will offer eligibility for programs administered by National Merit Scholarship Corporation for Junior students. Because the PSAT/NMSQT is designed for Junior year students, and that is when students could potentially qualify for National Merit Scholarships, we would like to provide the January test date for our 11th grade students.
For more information about the PSAT, please visit go here or refer to the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT Guide for students.
For more information about the National Merit Scholarship, please refer here.

Library Updates
*********************************
We are excited to announce we will be doing a Virtual Book Fair this year! Books are provided by Phoenix Book Company and will range from Preschool to Young Adult. The fair will be from December 1 through December 13 in case you want to do any holiday shopping. We will be sending out a link on December 1 to students and parents and posting the link on the Campo Verde homepage. Orders will be available for pick up in the library from December 15- December 18 at noon. Email Mrs. Flaherty (sara.flaherty@gilbertschools.net) if you have any questions.
We have 3 different fall and Thanksgiving displays up in the library. Students are able to check out the books on the displays. Our “Falling for a Good Book” display has books that take place in the fall season. Our “Thanksgiving” display has various cookbooks for students to check out to help cook this holiday. And our “What Does Family Mean to You?” display encourages students to think of all the people in their lives that are like family to them.
Our 3D printer has been busy lately with student requests. Many have been students wanting to print out something to give as a gift. Students can see Mrs. Flaherty in the library to find out how to create and print their own 3D print. Here are some pictures of some of the latest prints:

digital citizenship
*********************************
Digital Citizenship addresses 21st century skills such as: Media Balance & Well-Being, Privacy & Security, Digital Footprint & Identity, Relationships & Communication, Cyberbullying, Digital Drama & Hate Speech, News & Media Literacy.
The Gilbert Public School district uses Common Sense as our resource for information and Campo Verde teachers will be teaching all our students these digital skills from its resources. Common Sense is a trusted site grounded in research with its mission as, “helping kids thrive in a rapidly changing world”. This site also has a section for parents so that you can support your children, no matter what age, with these skills. We recommend that you take a look at it, but we will also use this newsletter as a way to give you resources on these topics. Here is a short video from commonsense on digital citizenship: What is Digital Citizenship?
