The Fall of Jericho
How does God help you?
The spies that Joshua sent to Jericho returned to camp full of God-given faith that they could take the land that God had promised to give them. How different from the report that the majority of spies had given forty years ago! This generation was different too. Trusting that God would be with them, they crossed the Jordan River and entered the Promised Land. The whole nation celebrated the Passover. The manna stopped. And the commander of the Lord’s army appeared to Joshua and gave instructions for how they would take the city of Jericho. They would march around the city for seven days. The priests would blow trumpets. On the seventh day, they would march around seven times, the priests would blow the trumpets, the people would shout, the walls would fall down, and the Israelites would destroy everything except for Rahab and her family.

Talk about it
- How did God help the Israelites defeat Jericho?
- How does God help you?
- Why did God have the Israelites destroy all the people of Jericho?
- Who did God save in Jericho? How does God save us?
God told the Israelites to walk around the walls and blow trumpets. The Israelites would not need to fight. God was the one who would make the walls of Jericho come down so that the people could go in and take over the city.
Talk about how God helps you when things seem impossible.
The people of Jericho were wicked and did not follow God. They were God’s enemies, and they would have led God’s people away from Him into sin and unbelief.
God saved Rahab and her family because she believed in Him as the one true God. God has saved us from our sin through Jesus.
