Trivium Academy Weekly Newsletter-Week of Sept 23rd
Elise Adams-1st Grade
College(s): Texas A&M-Commerce.
Teaching History: This is 8th year teaching! I grew up in Plano and attended Plano ISD schools Kinder-12th grade. After I graduated, I returned to Plano ISD to teach. I started out as an intervention teacher for 2-5, then I taught 2nd grade. I have been in first grade for the past 6 years. First grade has my heart and this is my happy place. I love writing curriculum and implementing fun lessons. I am beyond excited to have found Trivium! This school aligns so much with my teaching philosophy. I look forward to getting to know everyone better throughout the year!
Family: Eleanor is my sweet foster daughter. She is 4 years old and the light of my life. I have had her for about 7 months. I and not sure where our story will go, so in the meantime I am enjoying every moment with her!
Interests/Hobbies Outside of School: I love to go out to dinner and socialize with family and friends. I love taking Eleanor swimming, to jump places and reading books with her. I also enjoy shopping, but that has slowed down quite a bit now that I have a kiddo!
Shell Works-Community Outreach Coordinator & American Sign Language Teacher
College(s): I went to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Many of us called it Naca-nowhere, but it was the place I truly mastered and learned to understand American Sign Language, Spanish, and how to be an attentive and caring teacher. It was a great experience. I also have my Masters Degree in Educational Administration.
Teaching History: This is my 18th year in education. I started in Deaf Education and taught children from ages 3- 21, elementary, middle, and high school as well. My 3rd year in education, I made a shift in certification and started teaching American Sign Language as a foreign language to high school students. Through the years, I have had the privilege to be an ASL high school teacher, district-wide administrator, and a Service Coordinator for Deaf Education. I have enjoyed all my is my opportunities, from Longview to Houston, to Sherman and now Trivium, to work with and for the kids.
I left education about 10 years ago to work in the educational and growth side of the corporate platform. My job was to grow and promote success within particular businesses. It was a lot like teaching children in that, the secret was to see where the gaps were in the business – just like learning gaps for our kids – and then cater and strategize to those gaps until they are not gaps anymore. I am excited that I have 2 roles at Trivium. 1 – Community Outreach Coordinator, and 2 – American Sign Language Teacher. I feel VERY fortunate to work in both areas and serve our school.
Family: I have 2 children. My oldest is 21 and she attends Texas A&M as an engineering major. My youngest is 10 and he attends Trivium as a 5th grader and there is nothing better than knowing my child is in the hands of he most amazing educators in the nation. (I really do think this!) We live in Prosper currently, but have thought about moving somewhere closer to Trivium in the next year. We have a 9 year old boxer and sweet little cat too.
Interests/Hobbies Outside of School: We LOVE to travel, take road trips, avid book readers, going to the movies, and mostly just hanging out with the family. My deep passion is teaching. I spend a lot of time making sure that my students are learning, growing, and enjoying school – besides my family, seeing my students grow up and become passionate about life, may by my largest accomplishment.

Jennifer Filipski-Workroom Committee Chair
I have been married to my husband Matt for almost 11 years in November. I am the proud mom to Thatcher, who is in Mrs. J's 1st grade class. I was born, raised and currently reside in Plano.
This is our 2nd year at Trivium and my first year on PIE as the Workroom committee chair.
In the workroom we need volunteers to help teachers with making copies, laminating, cutting and other various special projects. There is always something to do!
My favorite things about Trivium are the amazing teachers and staff. I am usually in awe of the creativity, passion and genuine love these people have when it comes to teaching and caring for our kids. I love the community we have here at Trivium and how easy it is to get involved.
