❇️ What's New in the New Year? ❇️
Classroom Centers
Explore our innovative classroom centers! These learning hubs are designed with students at the forefront, offering engaging activities that are both self-checking and self-selecting. Each activity is crafted to hone specific skills, allowing students to deepen their knowledge and enhance their abilities in targeted areas. Our latest additions to the classroom spotlight fine motor skills and math, with more exciting features on the horizon!
The Big 6!
The Big 6 are important movements that can make daily tasks a lot simpler for our children. From reaching and pointing to twisting and squeezing, these skills are the building blocks for activities like getting dressed or eating independently. We believe that practicing these movements separately helps our students handle bigger tasks with ease. Our staff is dedicated to identifying which skills students might need a bit of help with, setting achievable goals, and practicing a little every day.
Math But Make It Fun!
Lightboxes serve as excellent tools for individuals with visual impairments as well as those with sight. They aid in the understanding of light, color, and objects. This versatile light box can also function as a vibrant backlight. In addition, many of our math materials are multi-sensory, offering ways for students to explore concepts across multiple senses. For example, during math instruction, students measure using rulers that feature tactile supports and Braille.
New Titles for the New Year
Our bookworm continues to grow as our teachers explore new books with our students.
Impromptu Professional Development
While the weather outside is frightful, we utilize schedule changes for impromptu professional learning opportunities! Heather reviews ULS with our team as we continue to build a high-quality, individualized program for our students.
Adventures of Homer the Gnome 🍄
This month, Homer is helping us garden! Hydroponic gardening can be a great way to explore alternative methods of growing plants. It allows for precise control over nutrient levels and can result in efficient and fast plant growth. In this picture, Homer is overseeing our onion as it grows in water and a mason jar.
