Welcome to the 6th community eNewsletter for Sumter STEAM Charter! One of the five core pillars of Sumter STEAM Charter is meaningful family & community engagement. Designed with you in mind, our hope is for this newsletter to serve as another communication tool to remain engaged with the community so you can be in the know with what's happening at Sumter STEAM Charter!

SSC Welcomes its 22nd Community Partner!

Founding board members were recently treated to Kona Ices in specially-designed cups to promote enrollment interest in SSC to prospective families...ask for one of these cool, color-changing cups on your next visit to Kona Ice! SSC Founding Board of Directors Monthly Meeting

The public is invited to attend with a few safety reminders: 1) social distancing will be practiced, 2) temperature checks will be conducted at the door, and 3) face masks will be provided upon arrival. Additionally, remember to come prior to the 11:30 am “call to order” to sign up if you are planning to participate in public participation or email your comments to board@sumtersteamcharter.org by 10:30 am.

Board Adopts Official Scholar Enrollment Policy

The Founding Board of Directors recently adopted SSC’s official scholar enrollment policy. Interested families of scholars who will be eligible for grades K-1 in the Fall of 2021 can submit an enrollment application beginning October 1. Prospective parents are strongly encouraged to participate in one of dozens of family preview sessions that will be held throughout the fall, beginning in September, to learn more about the unique educational model.

WE’RE MOVING! As our leadership team expands, this development provides two significant advantages: the perfect amount of space to conduct official business in SSC’s planning & implementation year as well as a convenient location for stakeholders to access!

Consider Supporting SSC

You can now give safely and securely support SSC with a financial contribution via our website. When you visit the website portal to give, you will be asked to have your contribution marked to assist with one of three projects: 1) scholar uniforms, 2) Family Preview Sessions, or 3) the after-school ASPIRE program. Your contribution will help to ensure a strong launch for SSC.

SSC officially has a home FOR ITS PRIMARY ACADEMY CAMPUS!

SIGNED, SEALED, & DELIVERED! After a three-month approval process with the generosity of an anonymous donor family, we now officially have a home for Sumter’s first tuition-free public charter school...this time next year, we will be educating scholars at the Primary Academy Campus located in South Sumter! Renovation planning is underway.
