As always, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Special Area Students of the Month. These students were chosen by our special area teachers for their positive attitudes, helping hands, and strong work ethic:

As a result of the Lacey Township School District's realignment of grade levels at the elementary and middle school levels for the 2023-2024 school year, the Forked River School will serve students in our section of Lacey Township in grades first through fifth beginning in September. Mill Pond Elementary School will be restructured to house the existing preschool classes and our kindergarten classes. As a result of our fourth grade students staying with us for fifth grade, there won't be a fourth grade promotion ceremony this year. Also, the FRS PTA will not host a fourth grade graduation celebration picnic. They will host a picnic next year when our our current fourth grade students are 5th grade graduates.

State and local testing is upon us. Our third and fourth grade students are continuing to take the NJSLA state tests on May 8th, 9th, and 10th. NWEA testing takes place for all students K-4 over the course of the month of May. Thank you for always ensuring your child(ren) has/have a good night's rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and is encouraged to always try their best in all they do!

As we approach the final six weeks of the school year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our students and their families for all of your support! We look forward to our upcoming end of the year events which are outlined below. Please remember a photo identification is required for all visitors at FRS when school is in session.

May 16th - Fourth Grade Drama Play - 7:00 PM Performance at FRS for Parents

May 17th - Chorus Concert - 7:00 PM Performance at FRS for Parents

May 18th - PTA Bingo for Books - 6:15 PM Doors Open at FRS - RSVP is Required

May 19th - Career Education Day for our Students

May 24th - Band Concert - 7:00 PM Performance at FRS for Parents

May 26th - Holiday Half Day - Students Dismiss at 1:15 PM - Wear Red, White, and Blue

May 26th - Kindergarten Field Day begins in our gym at 9:45 AM

Visitors are limited to two adults per child due to the limited spectator space in our gym.

May 29th - School Closed in honor of Memorial Day

June 1st - First and Third Grade Field Day - (1st Grade 9:30 AM) & (3rd Grade 1:45 PM)

June 5th - Second and Fourth Grade Field Day - (2nd Grade 9:30 AM) & (4th Grade 1:45 PM)

June 13th - 1:15 Dismissal for Students

June 14th - 1:15 Dismissal for Students

June 15th - 1:15 Dismissal for Students

June 16th - Last Day of School, 1:15 Dismissal for Students, and Report Cards are issued

Preparations for the 2023 - 2024 school year have already begun at the Forked River School. Please note that due to the complexities of scheduling to meet the diverse needs of our elementary students, we are not able to guarantee the fulfillment of teacher requests. Please know that we will be making every effort to align the needs of each student with a quality academic environment.

If your child has medications at school, please call Mrs. Vilardi, our school nurse, at 609-971-2080 option 4 to schedule a pick-up date and time in June.

We would like to express the importance of continuing to engage your child(ren) in academic activities over the summer break. With this in mind, registration for the Lacey Township School District’s Summer Academic Enrichment Academy for students entering grades 1 through 9 for the 23-24 school year is open.

This program will take place at the Lacey Township Middle School from July 10th to August 10th, Monday through Thursday, from 9am until 12pm. Transportation will be provided if requested. This English Language Arts and Math based program is designed to reinforce skills and knowledge that students may require additional support with, as well as providing enrichment activities.

A certified teacher will work with your child to provide engaging lessons, activities, and games designed to further develop their literacy and mathematical skills. Social and emotional learning, physical and STEM based opportunities will be embedded into the program in an effort to promote well rounded students prepared for success.

We are looking forward to working with your child this summer. Please complete the registration information by visiting the FRS website, (https://www.laceyschools.org/frs), and clicking on the link to registration in the scrolling banner on the top of the page. Registration closes on June 2, 2023. Registration completed after June 2, will result in your child being placed on a waitlist for the Summer Enrichment Program.

In addition, it is important for parents and guardians to continue to read with their children and provide opportunities for them to exercise their literary, writing, mathematical, social studies, science, and problem-solving skills each and every day. Please visit our website and click on the student links section for web-based academic games. This will ensure that each of our students will be well-prepared for their academic pursuits upon returning to school in September. As we all know, the most important teacher in a child’s life will always be his or her parent or guardian.
