December 2023
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the much-anticipated holiday break, I want to take a moment to extend warm wishes to you and your families. The holiday season is a time to reflect on the joys of the past year, express gratitude, and create lasting memories with loved ones.
Just before Thanksgiving, my father-in-law passed away unexpectedly. While his departure has left an indelible void in our lives, he was a pillar of strength, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of love for our family. His sudden departure serves as a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing the time we have with our loved ones.
During the holiday break, I encourage you to embrace the spirit of the season, whether it's through cherished traditions, quality time with loved ones, or moments of quiet reflection. May this time bring you joy, peace, and a renewed sense of energy as we prepare for the exciting possibilities that the new year holds.
On behalf of the entire Hoover staff, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for your ongoing support and partnership. Our school community is a wonderful tapestry of diverse talents and shared aspirations, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work together towards the success and well-being of our students.
May the holiday season bring you warmth, happiness, and the company of those you hold dear. I hope this break provides you and your family with the opportunity to unwind, recharge, and share special moments together. Thank you for being an essential part of the Hoover family.
Wishing you a joyful holiday break and a happy New Year!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Czarnecki
Leader in Me - Practicing the 7 Habits at Home
Have a plan!
Habit #3 Means:
- I do the things that I have to do before I do the things that I want to do.
- I stay focused on what I'm doing. I try to minimize distractions and regroup if I get off task.
- I spend my time on the things that are the most important.
This month, sit down with your family and use the questions on the worksheet below to brainstorm how you can apply Habit 3 in your family!
Habit #3: brainstormer activity worksheet
Big Rocks
Click on the picture to watch a video about "big rocks" and "little rocks."
Your "big rocks" are the most important things for you to do, like family time, work/school, etc. Your "little rocks" are the less important things that fill up your time, like watching TV, excessive social media, and other activities that keep you from your "big rocks." When you fill up your time with "little rocks," there is not room for the "big rocks" to fit.
Make a list of your family's "big rocks" and send a picture to your teacher.
Family Time
Family Time is a "Big Rock!" Some ideas include having regular family meals together, planning a family game night or outdoor activity, scheduling one-on-one bonding times, or building family traditions. Snap a selfie that captures quality time together and send it to your teacher.

Lion PRIDE in the Community
The Lion PRIDE at-home calendars are a great way to support positive behaviors at home. December calendars are due on Monday, December 18.
We show Lion PRIDE everywhere we go! When an adult recognizes your child for showing Lion PRIDE at home or in the community, the student should color in the pawprint for that day. If students return their calendars with at least 10 of the 14 days’ paw prints colored, they will receive FIVE extra stamps on their 10-frame which means they will have more stamps to go shopping in the school store! Check out the Parent/Guardian letter regarding Lion PRIDE in the community! Be on the lookout for these calendars to come home with your child.
