GOODNOE GAZETTE
June 2, 2023
Students and staff enjoyed an awesome Field Day! I would like to thank Ms. Potash and Mrs. McGill for all of their hard work and preparation to ensure today's event was a success. I would also like to thank all of the GES staff and parents who assisted with today's Field Day! This event takes a village to pull off and everything ran smoothly with your help! Although the Grey Team was announced as today's winner, we reminded students that regardless of their team's color, we are Team Goodnoe! Below is a shared folder of pictures from today's Field Day that will continue to be populated! Be sure to check them out!
I wish everyone a great weekend!

Outstanding Balances on Lunch Accounts
Recently parents have been receiving notification regarding outstanding lunch account balances. It's important that these balances be paid prior to the end of the school year. Please know that this balance does not dissolve each year. These balances roll-over every year and will have a negative impact later on. If you have an outstanding balance, I encourage you to contact our cafeteria manager ASAP to reconcile your account.
CRSD CAFETERIA ACCOUNT REFUND FORM
By clicking the link below, you will have the option to request a cafeteria account refund, transfer your balance to a sibling, or donate your unused cafeteria funds to students in need in our district. We ask that all seniors and those leaving the district submit a form no later than Friday, June 9th. Funds for students remaining in the District will carry over from year to year. The form should only take a few minutes to complete. CRSD Cafeteria Account Refund Form

DRESS & GROOMING POLICY
Since spring has sprung, please see the CR policy on Dress and Grooming:
The Council Rock School District Board of School Directors has a policy in effect to monitor inappropriate attire. Attire and grooming can influence students’ attitudes towards themselves and their school. Council Rock students are urged to emphasize cleanliness, neatness, and generally acceptable good taste in their dress and grooming habits. In an effort to maintain an atmosphere that is most conducive to learning, student attire is expected to be appropriate for school. Appropriate dress is that which is neither offensive nor distracting. It should not present a safety hazard or disruption to the learning environment. Clothing which advertises or promotes the use of drugs, alcohol, or tobacco products is not considered appropriate. Clothing that conveys in- appropriate messages is not permitted. Other types of inappropriate clothing include low riding jeans, tight/form-fitting fabric tops with exposed midriff/shoulders or straps less than three fingers in width, and very short skirts/shorts. Students will be warned about inappropriate clothing initially with a letter sent home from the school. In some cases, students may be asked to cover up the inappropriate clothing. A second incident will result in a phone call to parents. If incidents continue, parents will be asked to come to school to bring more appropriate attire for their child. In addition, students are strongly discouraged from wearing flip-flops or sandals to school. There is a high incidence of injuries related to students tripping while at recess and walking through the hallways when wearing these types of footwear and our aim is to provide an environment that is safe for all.
CRSD CELL PHONE/SMART WATCH POLICY
This is a reminder that all Electronic Devices are against our District Policy. Even if text/phone usage is disabled on these devices, many still have the capability of taking photos & accessing the internet, etc. As a result, they are not permitted to be worn during the school day. All electronic devices should be turned off and remain in backpacks if they are brought to school.
Excerpt from CRSD/GES Parent Handbook
The use of cell phones by students is prohibited during the school day or on the school bus (Section 1317.1 PA School Code). Students, who possess cell phones, must secure them in their backpacks/schoolbags throughout the school day, turned off, not silent or vibrate. This eliminates unnecessary interruptions to instruction.
Students may not use cell phones during lunch, recess or breaks. Cell phones are to remain off during the school day, including the school bus. In the event a student uses a cell phone (calling, texting, photographing or otherwise) or the phone rings, during the school day, the student will be asked to turn the cell phone off before releasing to staff. Following, the cell phone should be picked up by a parent/guardian/designated adult at their earliest convenience, in the main office during school hours. The Council Rock School District assumes no responsibility for cell phones or other electronic devices that are lost, stolen or broken.
SCHOOL WIDE POSITIVE BEHAVIOR SUPPORT
During the past few weeks, your child’s class has been reviewing the SW-PBIS (School Wide- Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) school expectations. The lessons included a class discussion, modeling and practicing of respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors in the locations listed on the school-wide matrix. Your child’s class also learned about the voice levels that are expected for the different locations. Please take some time to review the matrix and voice level chart with your child. Our school website has a SW-PBIS link with more specific information regarding the structure of Goodnoe’s School Wide Positive Interventions & Support system. Check out more information at the links below.
FAMILY TRIP FORMS
Click the following LINK for the form to be completed for Family Educational Trips. Handwritten letters are accepted, however this form is preferred. Please be sure to submit the form/letter at least ten (10) days prior to your trip, for approval. This can be sent to school with your child or emailed electronically to Mrs. Susan Bogucki at SBogucki@CRSD.org
DOGS/PETS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
When escorting students to and from school, please do not bring pets on school grounds or into the school building. Many of our children have pet allergies or are afraid of animals; therefore, the presence of animals in school or on school grounds is prohibited. Some classes at Goodnoe Elementary School do participate in the Nor’Wester Reading Dogs program, so on occasion you may see dogs visiting. These dogs are specially trained and licensed to work in the schools with students. No other animals are permitted on school property during school hours. Please refer to our board policy for more information on animals in school policy 718 https://go.boarddocs.com/pa/coun/Board.nsf/vpublic?open#
