A Message from the Principal
Greetings Bronco Families!
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones doing well. I have so many special shout-outs this week. Thank you to our teachers and students for their continued focused on engagement and learning. Our interim testing data shows we are continuing a tradition of excellence as our school’s scores were in the top tiers of performance. Special shoutout to our teacher leaders for forming the Student Experience Committee (SEC). This amazing committee partnered with school staff and parent volunteers to host our 1st Sports Day. SEC looks forward to hosting more activities and event to promote student engagement.
I would also like to thank parents and community partners who supported our Bronco of the Month celebration, as well as our PTSA and Local School Council meetings. And last, but certainly not least, thank you to all who serve our country through the armed forces. “Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid. They have earned our undying gratitude.” - Harry S. Truman
This week was a fun-filled week of learning engagement. Please continue to check in with your child(ren) and know we are here as partners. Have a great weekend!
In service to others,
Principal Cindy Moffett
News & Events
STUDENT HEALTH SURVEY
To help improve our schools and those across the state, Gwinnett County Public Schools students in grades 3-12 will participate in the Georgia Student Health Survey. The GSHS is an anonymous and statewide survey instrument that covers topics such as school climate and safety, peer, and adult social support, bullying, mental health, substance abuse, and suicidal ideation.
The Student Survey will be open for students in grades 3-12 via the GCPS Student Portal from November 13-15 during their Social Studies classes.
Parents may complete the Opt-Out process if they do not wish their student(s) to participate in the survey. Parents may use the Parent Portal to complete this process, or they may send a written request to the schools to opt their student(s) out of this survey. Please note that any parent/guardian wishing to opt his/her student out of the survey should complete the online form or inform the school in writing at least 72 business hours before the school has scheduled the administration of the survey to ensure that the student does not participate. Schools can also include a specific date the survey will be administered if appropriate.
Click HERE to learn more about the GSHS survey, to review the GSHS Survey, and to learn about the opt-out process if you do not wish for your student to participate.
TALENT SHOW AUDITIONS
Sign ups are now open to audition for this year's Team Riley Talent Show! Students should complete the following form to sign up to try out for this year’s talent show, which will be held Friday, January 26th at Brookwood High School. Auditions will be on Wednesday, December 6th in the Crews Media Center, and will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. Forms are due by Friday, December 1st. Audition times will be given to homeroom teachers on Monday, December 4th. If you are in a group act, only one person needs to complete this form.
Acts who were in last year’s show and are trying out with the same people and same type of act will submit a video of their audition for this year, instead of auditioning in person. Acts who were not in last year’s show must try out in person.
Please note - vocal acts must try out with an instrumental track (no lyrics) - you may not sing a capella.

Have you seen our updates on social media? Stay tuned for more announcements of good things happening at Crews! Coming soon - our SGA members will be creating angels to hang on our Angel Tree. PTA ICE CREAM SALES
PTA is selling ice cream during Wednesday lunch periods for $1 each, cash only.
NO DRINKS OTHER THAN WATER
We are in the process of getting new carpeting at here at Crews. Please ensure your children do not bring any drinks other than water to school. This includes Starbucks, sports drinks, soda, etc. Thank you for your assistance in ensuring our school remains clean!
BUS PASSES
Please make a note that when asking for your student to receive a bus pass, it must be for emergency reasons only. Your student needs to bring a note from home with the emergency reason explained. This is a request directly from GCPS transportation. Thanks for your understanding of this matter.
ABSENCES
If your student is absent, send a parent note or doctor's excuse with your child upon returning to school (and no later than two weeks following the first day returning to school) to receive an excused absence. Excuse notes should be submitted to the student’s grade level office. Parent emails to teachers about student absences (partial or complete day) are not the official excuse but are suitable as an informational courtesy.
Parents - Stay Connected @ Crews!
Parent Portal: If you don't have a Parent Portal account, click here for more information and to get a form to request an account. The Parent Portal is the best way to stay up-to-date on your child's grades, attendance, and more!
Newsletter: We will be sending our weekly newsletter, the Bronco Bulletin, to all parents every Friday. Be sure to check your Parent Portal account to make sure we have the correct email address so you don't miss any upcoming news and events!
Social Media: Follow us online! We are on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
ParentSquare:
If you have not yet activated your account or you have questions, please check out GCPS' site at www.gcpsk12.org/Page/35909. You can find instructions for activating your account, customizing your notification settings, and more.
We did want to clarify a couple of things about ParentSquare. First, there is a ParentSquare app, but you do not have to download it if you do not want to. Using the app will give you quick access to the announcements, as well as the option of having push notifications, but you can also just use the web version of ParentSquare through your Parent Portal.
Second, ParentSquare gives you the opportunity to customize how and when you receive your notifications. You can choose whether you would prefer instant (as soon as the message is posted) or digest (a compilation of all messages sent through ParentSquare that day) for email, text, and app notifications. You can choose a different setting for text, email, and app notifications. For example, you can set email to digest, texts to instant, and app notifications to off, if you prefer. Be aware that the digest option begins to send at 6:00 pm, so you will receive all messages together typically between 6:00 and 7:00 pm. The default setting for parents is digest, so you will need to go in and change this if you would prefer instant. Emergency/time sensitive messages will still be sent instantly, regardless of settings.
