A Message from Mrs. Booth...
What a great night! Open House was such a blast. It was so good to see everyone again after the summer break. Thank you to our teachers and staff for the warm welcome to our families, and thank YOU families for all the smiles and genuine excitement about the start of a new school year! I can't wait to get things started on Tuesday!
During our first few weeks of school our teachers' main focus will be on building classroom community and learning procedures. Getting back into a routine is essential. Children thrive from routine, and that lack of routine can lead to anxiety and stress. Taking the time during the first weeks of school to get to know students, build new routines, and establish trust is imperative. These are the foundation to creating a place and space where each student feels like they belong and are an important part of our school community.
I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and most importantly..JOY and CONNECTION!
See you all Tuesday!

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL
We are so excited for the first day and we know you are too! As a reminder, all students will get their last HUG or HIGH FIVE at the door and will come into the building on their own! We have MANY adults stationed throughout the building to make sure all our Silver Springs Eagles know how to get to their classroom!
The carpool lane is the lane that uses the upper parking lot next to the gym and the bus lane will be the loop in the front of the school.
Please click here for a map of the arrival and dismissal locations.
Students will be allowed in the building at 8:40 a.m.
Please do not drop your student off prior to 8:35 a.m.
We dismiss at 3:45 p.m.
Carpool
Students that arrive by car will enter the building through the gym doors, wait in the gym for the 8:41 a.m bell and proceed directly to their classrooms.
How to use the Carpool Lane Safely:
When dropping off your student, pull all the forward in the lane.
Adults stay in the car.
Your student will exit the car on the passenger side.
There will be adults to help open the car door if needed.
Once your student has exited the car, please continue moving.
Walkers
Students that walk to school will enter the building through the gym doors.
Bussers
Students that arrive on the school bus will enter the building through the main entrance of the school.
PLEASE SEE THE MAP below explaining our arrival procedures.
CARPOOL REMINDERS
For the safety of our students we need to bring awareness to the proper use or "etiquette" of the carpool drop off lane. Parents, it is for everyone's benefit that we need everyone to follow these instructions. Also, please do not get upset when staff enforce carpool etiquette.
- Pull ALL THE WAY forward to the front of the carpool lane before dropping children off or picking children up.
- Try to stay BUMPER TO BUMPER in the carpool lane, don’t leave space between cars
- Adults stay in the car and Staff will help if students need assistance opening the door.

TEARS & CHEERS MEET & GREET FOR PARENTS: SEPT. 5th
Parents – please save the date, Tuesday, September 5th at 8:45am to meet up in the MPR/cafeteria at Silver Springs.
We’ll have coffee & donuts, and the first PTA meeting of the year. All are welcome – you do not have to be a PTA member
JOIN THE PTA!
The Silver Springs PTA wants you! We welcome anyone and everyone (parents, guardians, grandparents and staff) to become members. You get to decide how much to participate, a little, a lot, or not at all. Simply joining and paying the membership fee helps the PTA accomplish goals and fund the programs we run all year.
What does the PTA do?
Silver Springs PTA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), organization that enriches education, builds school community, plans fun events and supports teachers.
These are just a few of the awesome things the PTA does:
· Plans events like Trunk or Treat, Gal with a Pal, Son Plus One Fun, Breakfast with a Buddy
· Creates a student yearbook
· Creates and distributes a student directory to every student
· Sells Silver Springs spirit wear
· Organizes the School Tool Box program
· Coordinates Teacher Appreciation Week
· Provides meals for staff during conferences
· And so much more!
Please join here today or look for the flyer that will come home with your student the first week of school.
INVEST IN YOUR CHILD
Invest In Your Child is the primary fundraiser of the Silver Springs PTA where families simply make a one-time donation. Funds raised from IIYC cover most of the PTA expenses for the whole year!
Why do families love it?
• IIYC is back by popular demand because it is the easiest way to benefit our school and requires zero effort on your part.
• Since our PTA is a 501(c)(3), your donation is tax deductible!
• 100% of funds will benefit Silver Springs students, staff, and school. No third-party companies hogging fundraiser profits.
• PTA will not ask you to do more fundraising later in the year. No sales of candy, popcorn, or wrapping paper. No making your kid go door-to-door. No need to hit up friends and family for sponsorships.
• If families donate generously to IIYC, then PTA will be able to keep all the awesome programs and events going. It’s a one-and-done campaign.
Please donate here today or look for the flyer that will come home with your student the first week of school.
SPIRIT WEAR
The Silver Springs PTA has launched our fall sale of spirit wear! Please place your order here by Sunday, September 24. All orders placed before 9/24/23 will be delivered to Silver Springs and sent home with your child in October.
BIRTHDAY LUNCHES
The Birthday Lunch program is a fun way to celebrate your child’s special day and the funds raised from this program directly benefit PTA programs. Win-win!
On your child’s day, you can come and join them for lunch! Some parents choose to bring a special lunch or a treat. You get to sit at the Birthday Lunch table near the MPR, which will be decorated with a festive tablecloth and birthday napkins.
The easiest way to sign up and donate is online. Or, look for the flyer that will come home with your student the first week of school.
Please sign up for this program with as much advance notice as possible.
Book now to get your spot, even if your requested date is later in the year. The schedule fills up fast! Last year, we had 140 birthday lunches over the year!
Also, if you need to cancel due to illness, etc., please notify Kate Rundell at silverspringspta@gmail.com. Our volunteers arrange their schedule to be there and it’s very frustrating to have a no-show.
DAD’S CLUB IS BACK!
In the past, Dad’s Club had over 50 dads participate in happy hours, planning, plus giving help and support for Silver Springs.
This year, Dad’s Club is partnering with the PTA to do playground improvements, host a couple really fun events, and help fundraise for educational enrichments to benefit Silver Springs students (plus some fun social outings to do the planning)!
Dad’s Club has two dads taking the lead to get the club rolling again: George Chalhoub and Jim Welch.
Sign up here and you’ll get info about when the first meet-up is!
E-mail silverspringspta@gmail.com with any questions.
SCHOOL TOOL BOX DELIVERY
The Silver Springs PTA runs the School Tool Box program. This awesome (but optional!) program saves parents the time and hassle of shopping for school supplies, and it raises funds for the PTA! Win-win!
If you ordered a School Tool Box before July 9th, your child’s supply box HAS BEEN DELIVERED to their classroom and is ready to go for the first day, September 5th. So you do not need to do anything at this point! Whoooohooo!!
If you did not pre-purchase a School Tool Box, that’s ok. Northville Public Schools will provide all that your child needs. However, many parents still choose to purchase supplies. If you like to shop on your own, here is a grade-level list of the recommended supplies.

Northville Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC)
Dear Northville Families,
I hope you are enjoying your summer! As many of you know, we have a parent group that families of our special needs students can join called SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee). There is a SEPAC at the county level and every district has a "chapter" as well.
The purpose of this group is to disseminate information from the county group to the district level to better inform our special needs families of valuable information and resources. Like the name suggests, this is a group led by 2 parents which Northville Public Schools supports.
Please see the following letter from them regarding building level representatives-please consider becoming one of them!
Best,
Beth Santer

Community Resources
From the Office of Special Services
We know September is a busy month but we wanted to take the time to highlight a few events as part of Suicide Prevention Month.
The first is a movie screening that is open to all parents in and outside of Northville Public Schools. The event will feature the movie "Death is Not the Answer" that was made by Keith Famie (a local filmmaker). We are fortunate to have Chuck Gaidica moderate this event which will also feature a panel that includes local agency representatives as well as Eric Hipple and Kevin Fischer. We will also have the following resource tables with mental health and suicide prevention specific information available:
New Hope
Color my World
RESET
Hegira
NAMI
IHA/Trinity
This is a FREE EVENT! You will see on the flyer a QR code to register but you can also use the link below. Registration is not required but appreciated!
Last year, a group of Northville Public Schools staff participated in the NAMI walk. This year the Suicide Prevention Coalition (which Northville Public Schools is a part of) has formed a team and would like all of the partner districts and our families to join. This is meant to show how we are all in this together no matter what your district boundaries are. The event is at Wayne State University on September 16th (Saturday)
630 Merrick St,
Detroit, MI 48202
Check-in at 8 am,
Walk time is 10 am -12:30 pm ET
There's no cost to walk with us, though donations to NAMI Michigan are certainly welcomed. Use this link to register yourself and put Suicide Prevention Coalition in the team search box.
