Principal Message to Families 5-28-24
Greetings Bell Families,
We have 9 days of school left.
Students will no longer suit up in the locker rooms for PE. They will be expected to participate in activities in their regular clothes. Some students cleared out their lockers Friday, May 24th. All other students will have an opportunity Tuesday, May 28th. Any items left behind after June 6th will be discarded, It is VERY important that your student retrieve their belongings May 28th during PE. After that, they have to make an appointment with their PE teacher.
Our final FUN Friday of the year is this Friday, May 31, 2024. Students who are tardy to classes or receive referrals will serve lunch detention and won’t be able to participate in FUN Friday.
Information about 8th grade promotion is being sent home via SMORE, email, and text. Questions about the ceremony can be directed to Mr. Lewis or Mrs. Pham. Questions about student grades should be directed to teachers of record. If you have a 6th or 7th grader who will attend the 8th grade ceremony with you, please do not send them to school. They should stay with you and attend the ceremony with you. Call and excuse their absence with Ms. Ashley.
Please make arrangements to pick your student up after school on time if they are not in primetime. It is not safe for students to hang around after school.
8th Grade Messages to Families
Students who are not eligible for the 8th grade promotion ceremony can not attend the ceremony. If they attend school June 6th, they will be in a classroom with assigned staff to complete activities and assignments provided by the staff. If the student stays home, email Ms. Ashley Aguayo at aaguayo@sandi.net.’
Library Messages to Families
Last week was our school-wide textbook return. Students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade were required to return their library and textbooks. We experienced a lower than expected return from 6th and 7th grade. When that happens, we are unable to provide our incoming students with the resources they are required by law to have. Please make sure your student has returned their textbooks and library materials.
This is a reminder that Chromebooks will be going home with your students over the summer. Please encourage your student to keep their Chromebook in a safe place and not share it with others during the break. We have experienced an incredible amount of deliberate damage to the technology over the last school year. The school district cannot continue to replace the devices for students who are intentionally damaging, and otherwise carelessly allowing unrepairable damage to happen to their computers.
We are asking for your support as we move forward. Please take a look at your student's Chromebook in the next few days as we approach the end of the year. Join us in conversations with your students about how to care for their borrowed device.
As partners in your student's educational experience, let's work together to ensure that all students are equipped with the technology they need to be successful in the classroom. We appreciate you and our partnership!

All parents are highly encouraged to get access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal (sign in here), where you can look up your student’s grades, attendance, and other information. Please contact Mr. Miguel Galindo at mgalindovazquez@sandi.net if you need an Access ID and Password, or if you have any other questions.
Independent Contracts
We believe school is important and students should be at school every day. We also know that life happens, and in certain situations an Independent Contract may apply for your student.
Independent contracts are case by case only. If a student is absent for 5 days or less, independent contracts do not apply. Independent contracts are for those rare situations which are usually out of our control. Some reasons for an independent contract may include a death in the family, a significant health or medical related issue, being displace due to an incident, and/or other emergencies as determined my admin. Families must request independent contracts "minimum" one week in advance so your student's teachers can prepare your student’s work while out on contract. Independent contracts are only valid if your student completes his/her work. Students are not eligible for a second contract if they don’t complete their work, given in their contract. If your student has an IEP, they will not receive services while on independent contract. If you feel your student qualifies for an independent contract, or have questions regarding independent contracts, please reach out to aaguayo@sandi.net for more information and/or next steps.
