Llewellyn Friday Flyer
("Star-lite" version)
November 17, 2023
Dear Families
I wanted to share another "lite version" of our newsletter this week to stay connected. We miss you, our students, and staff so much!!! Every day feels like "Groundhog's Day." I bet you are all feeling the same. I can only imagine how difficult these past few weeks have been for you and your families and wish terribly for school to be back in session once again.
Moreover, I wish that I could be sharing great news, but unfortunately, even though there has been some movement, the two sides, PPS and PAT, are still very far apart on a few key components of the contract. I am grateful that the two groups continue to bargain, with both sides hoping for a resolution that would bring our students back to school as soon as possible.
Again, here is the link for the Family Resource Page- https://www.pps.net/strikeresources. This can also be found on the pps.net home page. This site contains a lot of information, including supports for on-line learning and meal service. I have updated activities in Seesaw for K-5, added are K-2 Reading Coaching Support videos, and many other apps to keep students learning.
Was your K-2 child identified as a student who would benefit from Reading Coaching Session? Is your child participating? Have you changed your mind about having your child participate? Please read this memo regarding opportunities that still exist!
As you heard yesterday, ParentTeacher Conferences have been cancelled for next week. New dates are yet to be determined.
With school closed next week, we have rescheduled the Book Fair for the week of December 11-15th.
Many of you have been inquiring about the impact of the strike on our school year and calendar. Until the strike is settled, we will not know if days will be added at the end of the year to the school calendar or if other days will be used to make up the days students missed school. We will let you know what PPS & PAT decide on these matters as soon as we know what the agreement are from both sides.
Let me know if I can be of any help. Please don't hesitate to call the office (503) 916-6216 or email me at pgwynn@pps.net
Sincerely,
Principal Pam
