- NCCSE Special Education Awards
School Spotlight: Mission Estancia Elementary School
Dear EUSD Community,
At a special meeting on May 22, 2023, the EUSD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to appoint Tom Morton to serve on the District’s Governing Board. Mr. Morton was appointed to fill the position until the next general election in November of 2024.
Mr. Morton has been a part of the EUSD community for the past 12 years, as a parent and volunteer in multiple capacities. He brings a diverse range of skills, abilities and experiences to the role.
The Board vacancy occurred due to Board Member Raquel Pfeifer’s relocation out of state in April 2023. At a regular meeting on April 11, 2023, the Board of Trustees approved to fill the vacancy by way of appointment.
EUSD appreciates the time and interest of its well qualified community members who submitted applications and participated in the interview process. Our district and community continue to work together in support of our students.
Warmly,
Andrée Grey, Ed.D.
Superintendent
NCCSE Special Education Awards
The North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) held their annual Excellence In Education Awards event earlier this week. NCCSE is a SELPA of 14 north county school districts that advocate for our disabled communities throughout area districts. This year, we are thrilled that two of our amazing students, Emi Conn (Ocean Knoll) and Kellen Kuttler (La Costa Heights), as well as our district, received awards and were recognized for inclusive practices. The Special Education Parent Council includes: Jeff Ladman, Kelly Sullivan, Libby Travella, Amanda Reuther, Antonia Lane, and Tracie Davee.
Our teachers, administrators, staff, SpEd Parent Council, TRAC program, and families have continually come together to create a climate of awareness and acceptance for all of our students including those with special needs and anyone that may need extra support. We are proud of the entire community and honored to be recognized!
Update from Mission Estancia Elementary School
Each month, a school is spotlighted at our EUSD Board Meeting. Principal Megan Power alongside a 6th grade student presented an update from Mission Estancia Elementary School.
The update focused on the Explorations program on campus this year. Each Friday morning, all students Kindergarten through 6th Grade attend an Explorations offering. Students have the opportunity to select their top 3 choices. This is a wonderful campus-wide experience that further expands on students interests, educational opportunities, and community building.
