Please Complete the California Healthy Kids Survey...
The California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) is an anonymous, confidential survey of school climate and safety, student wellness, and youth resiliency. It is administered to students at grades five, seven, nine, and eleven. Parents and staff participate in the survey too. Survey results provide comprehensive data to schools to improve school climate.
On 1/28/22 and again on 2/11/22, a message with a link to complete the survey was sent by principals to parents via ParentSquare. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
The survey will remain open until February 18, 2022 at 4:30pm.
High School Students: Enter the Mayor’s Art Contest...
Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson is inviting high school students to enter the Mayor’s Art Contest to create work that “will celebrate Riverside’s past, present and its future." Learn more about it here.
The deadline is April 1 and winners will be named April 21.
Slow the Spread: Please COVID-Test Before Returning to School on Tuesday, February 22...
Thank you in advance for choosing to participate in our screening testing program. Learn more about the screening program here.
Cases were down for the third consecutive week. And subsequently, our attendance improved to 92.06% this past week. We continue to be hopeful and be optimistic in anticipation of a normal end-of-the-school-year.
Total Positive Cases This Week:
- 77 students (down from 142 last week)
- 10 staff members (down from 17 last week)
Students Identified Through Contact Tracing:
- 52 cases required contact tracing
- 201 students were placed in quarantine (ranging from isolation to modified quarantine)
Overall, as of Friday, February 11, including the first semester, we have had 383 staff members and 3,127 students report a positive test for COVID-19. Stay current with our case rate by regularly tracking our COVID-19 Data Dashboard and FAQ here. Cases recorded on the Dashboard are confirmed by Riverside County Public Health officials and remain on the Dashboard for 14 days.
This past week in Riverside County, there were 1,659 new cases (0.3% increase), equating to 63.0 cases per 100K (7-day average), 50 new deaths (0.8% increase), and a 14.1% test positivity (7-day rate), a 4.5% decrease from the previous week. Since many people are now testing at home with antigen rapid tests, the positivity rate is estimated to be much higher since all cases are not reported. There are currently 523 COVID-19 hospitalized patients, 42 fewer patients hospitalized from the prior day total (7.4% decrease).
This data is as of February 12, 2022, as reported on the State's tracking web site.

Mask Mandate Requirements in Schools May Change Soon...
The state’s mask requirement for vaccinated people in most indoor settings, not including schools, will lift on Feb. 16. While school mask rules won’t change on Feb 16, they are expected to change soon if conditions continue to improve. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
In Closing....
On behalf of your Board of Education, thank you in advance for testing your children before returning to school next Tuesday, February 22.
Enjoy a safe and peaceful President's Week holiday and a Happy Valentine's Day tomorrow.
Be well. Test weekly. Stay healthy.
Sincerely,
