This July Family Newsletter will provide you with important information for the school year and additional information will be sent out in early August as we approach the first day of school. 1st Day of School
The 1st day of school is Monday, August 21st. School hours are from 7:30 AM to 2:35 PM. Students will be allowed in the building at 7AM.
Schedule Update
Between now and the beginning of the school year, you will receive information from the district about completing annual forms and how to view your child's schedule for the 2023-24 School year. The student information system we use is being changed over to Power school. When your child's schedule is available in Power School the district will send out a public release. We will also post it on our facebook page.
New Student Enrollment
Student Drop Off and Pick Up (Instructions/Maps)
Instructions:
Student Drop-Off/Pick Up
- At 7:00 AM students will be allowed into the building. Any student arriving prior to 7:00 AM will need to come in and have a seat in the commons area, between the office and the library. There is no one in the office until 6:50 AM.
- Parent drop off and pick up is located in the front of the building.
- Please know that our parking lot is not very big and can be tight when cars are passing each other during parent pick up. Please be patient and mindful of this.
- The bus parking lot is located in the back of the building (parking lot between Sixth Grade Center and the Middle School).
Dress Code
As we are all preparing to begin another school year, it is important for everyone to be familiar with and follow the dress code. Prior to the first day of school or back-to school shopping, there are a couple things to remember about the dress code policy.
- Any apparel, jewelry, accessories or manner of grooming containing vulger words or images or profanity or that advocates drug use, tobacco or alcohol is deemed inappropriate and is forbidden.
- Students will be permitted to wear shorts or skirts that reach their mid-thigh and remain there.
- No holes in clothing, cut or torn which expose skin or undergarments above the mid-thigh are permitted. (Applicable to students in grades 6-12)
- Blouses and t-shirts must extend to at least the top of the student's pants, skirts or shorts.
- Tops and shirts must have a sleeve. No skin shall be visible on the midriff; this includes both the standing and sitting positions.
- Undesirable or vulgar dress apparel may not be worn at school or at school functions.
Below is the link to the dress code policy and visuals.
Meet the Teacher
WSGC's Meet the Teacher will be on August 17th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Additional information will be sent out prior to the 17th. Parking is limited, please be patient as you are entering and exiting our campus.
WIN (After School Program)
WIN activities will not start until Tuesday, September 5, 2023. Information and links for WIN will be shared prior to the first day of WIN. Please make sure that your child is registered for transportation prior to signing up for WIN. WIN activities are held at Waynesville Middle School. A staff member from Sixth Grade Center will get them checked in and escorted over to the Middle School.
WIN will run Monday through Thursday, busses load at 5:15pm and depart the Waynesville Middle School at 5:30 PM. Parents picking up their child will be asked to have a valid ID and sign in at the Tennis Court parking lot no later than 5:00 PM.
