Chameleons RISE: Raising Intentionality Strengthening Expectations for students, teachers, administration, and families.
Dear GQES Families,
We really, really appreciate you sending your child to us on time, ready to learn, and at school every day! This helps our students thrive! Shout out to the following classes for having the best overall class attendance at their grade level for the past 3 weeks:
PreK: Ms. Carrier/Ms. Smith's class
Kindergarten: Mr. Bowman/Ms. Young's class
Grade 1: Ms. Faliskie's class
Grade 2: Ms. Hoover's class
Grade 3: Ms. O'Barto's class
Grade 4: Ms. Bower's class
We are continuing to monitor our students' attendance every three weeks. We will be sharing who has the best class attendance per grade level for the past 3 weeks, here soon. Stay tuned!
We are also honoring our classes who have excellent habits in our cafeteria with the 'Golden Spoon' award. We expect students to follow directions everywhere, all the time, no matter the setting with the expectation of BEING KIND.
Here are the upcoming dress up dates for Red Ribbon Week: Say NO to drugs!
Monday, 10/30/23: Team Up against drugs: wear your favorite jersey or team gear
Tuesday, 10/31/23: Say "Boo" to drugs---dress as your favorite character (no masks/no weapons)
More information:
- It is important for students to learn how to regulate their emotions, especially if they experience situations or conflicts. See the link below for more awareness on zones of regulation: Zones of Regulation. Ms. Sara Shoemaker (full time school counselor) and Ms. Karen King (who we share with Virginia Avenue Charlotte Dehart Elementary School) are excellent at helping students and families
- Please always update your child's emergency contacts, addresses, custody and/or phone numbers as changes may arise.
- Always, always support your child's positive behavior by encouraging your child to show our expectations at GQES: smiling faces, listening ears, helping hands, respecting boundaries and trying our best on all learning tasks!
If you have questions or concerns, always feel free to contact us at 540-662-3575. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child thrive!
Sincerely,
