Note from the Principals
During our first full week of school, we have been excited to see our students settling into their school routines. This week we kicked off HHES Kindness Initiative with a sports spirit day and compliment challenge. We have enjoyed sharing more about the importance of treating others with kindness here at school. Several students created kindness posters as a part of this week's kindness activity and you can check out some of our outstanding examples below. Next week, students will be playing kindness focused games in the lunchroom and will be able to share messages of kindness on our school's Kindness walls! Our week 2 poster is below.
We are continuing to focus on on-time attendance at HHES. While we know that illness can happen, we want to be sure that students are here when they are healthy and get the opportunity to learn with their peers each day. There are numerous benefits that come from regular school attendance including:
- increased reading proficiency levels (Nationwide, 17% of chronically absent students are reading at grade level by 3rd grade, compared to 64% of those attending regularly)
- increased grades in middle school
- better chance of on-time high school graduation and college attendance
Thank you for helping your students get to school each day so that we can make every minute of learning count!
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership!
