December 2022 -- Christmas Edition
Christmas @Fairmeadows Library
The Librarian wanted to be Santa for our Pre-Kinders. Nevermind the Grinch tshirt..
Our Pre-Kinders have stretched and learned and that's rewarded.
PreKinders and Christmas is great energy for closing Fall Semester.
Dynamic Shelving comes to Fairmeadows Library.
Dynamic Shelving is a display technique to make the library collection more accessible, browsable, and navigable.
It's hard to know what's in our library collection when the books are tightly packed on the shelves. We've turn some of the book covers to face front and my goodness it is so much easier to see more of what we have now.
New chairs gives the Fairmeadows Library a whole new look.
More cosmetic changes to come.
The solid wood chairs were good for a long time, but
It was time for them to go. They had done their thing for many years and many students.
The color of the new chairs complimented the new carpet.
The whole library seems to be getting a new look.
Overall, it is a lighter, colorful reinventing of the library.
The chairs are easier for our students to move around for more collaborative work.
Fairmeadows Library hosts the campus spelling bee.
Readers turn out to be some of the best Fairmeadows spellers. They were brilliant.
Listening intently to each letter.
They're all champions.
Congratulations Layla.
Experience won. She's been a participant since PreK.
The Premier Hour of Code Event at Fairmeadows Library.
The fun our students had with the #HourofCode event was waaaaaay off the charts. It's a valuable language and skill they're learning.
Coding in a small group with Dash Robot.
Coding Dash robot through a maze.
Coding Dash robot on a grid.
Remembering sequence.
Trusting the algorithm
Giving the robot the right commands.
Pre-Kinders getting a start in coding with Botley Jr Robot.
PreKinders and Kinders use Go Mouse Robot for an intro to Coding.
Coding with Osmo is a great way to sharpen coding skills.
We used Code.org as a launchpad for our introduction into the coding.
We started with Anna and Elsa Frozen challenge. Then we moved on to Minecraft Acquatics. challenge. We tinkered with the Scratch and Ice Age Challenge. We transferred those skills to the robots. But Code.org is home for us.
