Did You Know?
Did you know that our District has a textbook review process that occurs every six years to keep materials relevant and updated? In combination with textbooks, our District also provides students with multiple software programs to enhance learning in the classroom. Issue 68, the renewal levy for Strongsville City Schools, helps support these classroom resources for all students.
60 Seconds with the Superintendent
Whitney Elementary School’s Parent/Teacher Conferences looked a little bit different this past week. They are trying a new approach to foster increased parent engagement and even conferences which include their 4th & 5th grade students. MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MRS. CINDY YOUNG, EDUCATIONAL AIDE AT CHAPMAN ELEMENTARY
Mrs. Cindy Young is in her eighth year with Strongsville City Schools. Mrs. Young has spent her entire SCS career at Chapman Elementary School. She has lived in Strongsville for 20 years and all three of her sons also attended Chapman - it’s been “a home away from home” to her entire family for many years. Mrs. Young earned her undergraduate degree from Kent State University.
“I've always felt Chapman has had a warm and inviting atmosphere from the PTA, to the staff, to the students. The best part of being an Educational Aide at Chapman is that I love working with all the kids and seeing them smile when they master a skill or help out another student in need. I enjoy working in our District because I work with amazing educators that always put the kids and their needs first,” said Mrs. Young.
“It's really fun to see some of the students I work with improve week to week on their fluency skills. I know the more we practice reading together, the more comfortable they feel reading in front of their classmates. I also work with students on math facts and use different strategies that help them remember their facts quicker. Whether I'm working with students one on one or helping out in a classroom, the teachers are always thankful for my time and love to see their students make improvements.”
Thank you Mrs. Young for being part of a great staff at Chapman Elementary! #WeAreStrongsville
