Welcome to the House System: 4 Houses, 1 HOME ❤️💚💙🖤
This school year, McNeel is implementing the Lancer House System to help bring our collaboration with scholars, families, and staff to the next level. We have visited and studied the Ron Clark Academy House System over the past year. Our staff have been eager to implement this system at the HOME of the Lancers. This will include the Houses of Reveur, Altruismo, Isibindi, and Amistad. All scholars and staff at McNeel will belong to one of these four houses. During the school year, scholars will work toward earning points for their house. Points can be earned for academic achievement, character, responsibility, and respect. Though we will have the four houses, we will remain one HOME to help nurture and support your scholar. We will focus on high academic expectations for ALL scholars, increased engagement, and encouraging academic and behavioral support from home.

CODE OF CONDUCT
We have reviewed the School District of Beloit's Code of Conduct with all our students. The expectations on learning, behavior and consequences were discussed. Here is a copy for your reference.
Cellphones!
Based on the School District of Beloit Board Policy 443.5, intermediate students, grades 4-8, must have their cell phones up and away during the entire school day. 6th-8th Graders must keep their phones locked in their individual lockers during the day. 4th and 5th Graders will have their home room teacher lock them up in their individual classroom for the day. They may only be used before school and after school. Phones are NOT allowed at lunch.
Please review the expectations with our Lancers. Thank you in advance.
Dress Code
Students should dress appropriately at all times and refrain from wearing clothes that is distracting to the learning environment. Dressing in a manner which disrupts or may disrupt teaching or learning, or which poses a risk of security, health or safety is not permitted.
Please remember that all hats and hoods should not be worn at McNeel. The expectation is that students remove their headgear when asked to do so by a staff member.

Attendance Policy
Student success is dependent on being present at school. Please make sure your student is attending and on time everyday. If your student must be absent for any reason, make sure to communicate the absence with our attendance secretary. To report an absence call 608-361-3802 or submit the absence through skyward.
Families are encouraged to make doctors appointments outside of school time, if possible. If your child needs to be released for an appointment, we ask that you send a note in the morning and return the child as soon as possible.
Visitors To All School District Buildings
The safety, security, and well-being of our students, families, and staff if our number one priority.
In 2020, the School District of Beloit began using the Raptor Visitor Management System. The Raptor system allows us to better monitor visitors, contractors, and volunteers who enter our schools. Upon entering any district building or school, all visitors will be required to sign in and present a picture ID. Acceptable IDs include, state-issued IDs such as a driver's license, a passport, or a consular card. The ID will be scanned into the Raptor software system.
This security protocol follows Board Policy 860, Rule 1 that states, "any person other than a student or a district employee is regarded as a visitor" and must report to the building's main office for authorization before going anywhere in the school building.
Exciting Partnership!!!!
We are excited to announce that the School District of Beloit will be partnering with Beloit Community Health Systems (CHS) to provide onsite health services to our students. CHS will be based out of the High School and will see students on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please help me get the word out by including the following in your family newsletters:
Starting September 13th, the School District will expand our partnership with Beloit Community Health Systems (CHS) to provide onsite health care to students. Families should call (608) 361-0311 to set up an appointment at the High School. If they are established patients, they can schedule through their link. Parents/guardians need not be present for the appointment of a High Schooler as long as consents are signed when setting up the appointment. Intermediate and Elementary students will need to have a parent/guardian with them at any scheduled appointment. CHS will be onsite Tuesdays from 1-4pm and Thursdays from 8:00-12pm.
