Cape's Mission & Vision
Vision: We believe that the most promising strategy for achieving the mission of Cape Elementary is to develop our capacity to function as a professional learning community.
Message from Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund
Dear Cape Families,
Welcome to the month of April! We are super excited about the progress that our Cape kids have made this school year. It seems unbelievable that we have only eight weeks of school left. We want our Cape kids to continue to work hard and be prepared for the next grade. The students have been working diligently to meet their iReady, AR and fluency goals along with earning LiveSchool Points and Capeables. We are very proud of all their efforts. We are working to make sure that every single child will feel the pride in achieving success. Our Cape kids are the best!
We encourage parents to continue to communicate with your child’s teacher and monitor your child’s grades and attendance through FOCUS. Third quarter report cards are posted in FOCUS. Please take a few minutes to look over your child’s grades. Discussing grades with your student creates accountability as well as providing you a chance to celebrate success and set goals for continuing progress.
We would like to thank the Cape PTO officers, Amy Gabel - President, Victoria Hester - Vice President, Kara Velez - Secretary, Corinne MacDonald - Assistant Secretary, and Carolina Thomas - Treasurer for their work this year. Our PTO board and PTO team continue to support our students and staff and are always willing to do whatever it takes to keep things going. Thanks to all of the parents who supported PTO fundraising and activities. We look forward to seeing all of our Cape families at the PTO Spring Fling on Friday, April 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on the PE field.
The first week of May is staff appreciation week. We are planning to have a week full of goodies and fun for our hard working 100 Cape staff members. We want to have a scavenger hunt for our staff and need many gift cards from Starbucks, Urban Buzz, Dunkin Donuts, Publix or anywhere local for $5 or $10. If you have any ideas, connections or know a company willing to donate, please reach out to Kristi Sund at KristineSu@leeschools.net.
At the end of each school year we have awards ceremonies for kindergarten to fourth grade called Celebrations of Learning and for fifth grade, a Promotion Ceremony. Please see the school calendar in your child’s planner and in the newsletter for dates and times. We will communicate on social media and through School Messenger as the dates are approaching.
Cape Elementary is a special place to work. We are honored to be the leaders of this great school! Please continue to contact us via email or phone call when you have a concern, question or comment.
Sincerely,
Ms. Osterholm and Mrs. Sund

Did You Know......
According to a study conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), 30.5% of respondents reported a sensitivity to strong colognes/fragrances. The same study found that 19% of respondents reported adverse health effects from scented products.
Here at Cape Elementary, many staff members (including our principal) experience adverse reactions to strong colognes/fragrances. Parents and students, when you are on campus, please refrain from wearing perfumes or strong fragrances (including lotions), so our staff (and principal) can focus on providing the best educational experience for everyone.
Thank you.
