Back to School Newsletter 2023-2024

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Hoover Elementary School. I am excited to start the 2023-24 school year and watch our students grow and learn this year! Hoover is a diverse learning community where teachers, staff, and parents work together to ensure educational excellence. Recognizing that learning is developmental, we strive to provide educational opportunities that are authentic, experiential, challenging, reflective, and collaborative. The Pennsylvania Core Standards provide the framework for all instruction with the goal being that all students attain the level of proficiency. Together we can do it!

To keep you informed and updated about our programs and events, you need to sign up for Blackboard and the Parent Portal. The following additional resources are available as well: Parent Handbook, school websites, teacher websites, and classroom newsletters. To set up a Blackboard/Parent Portal account and to view additional district information, please visit the CHSD website at www.camphillsd.k12.pa.us .

Meet Our New Staff

Ms. M is our new 1st-grade teacher. She has been our building substitute for the last 3 years and we are excited to officially hire her to be on our team!

Mrs. Cunningham

Mrs. Cunningham is a paraprofessional with our Autistic Support Classroom. She is not new to Hoover but is now here as an employee instead of a parent!

Mr. Stephen

You may recognize Mr. Stephen if you have a child that enjoys wrestling and football. Mr. Stephen is our new lunch/recess aide and also happens to coach CHSD Football and Wrestling.

News from the PTO

The Camp Hill Elementary Parent Teacher Organization (CHEPTO) is dedicated to serving Hoover, Eisenhower, and Lion Academy learners and their families, grades K-5. CHEPTO raises funds to support school activities and organizes events for our families to enjoy together, including Fall Fest, May Fair, and roller skating parties.

As we gear up for the 2023-2024 school year, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved! We are looking for 1-2 more board members (including a treasurer), as well as a yearbook coordinator. We are also forming several subcommittees, which will offer even more chances to have input and make an impact. Our ability to continue to offer programming and other events relies on help from volunteers. Without your help, we'll need to drastically cut back on what we can do.

Help us make this the best year yet!

Our first meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 12, at 6:30 PM in the Eisenhower Library. There will also be an option to join via Zoom if you prefer. Please join us to hear more about our plans for the 2023-2024 school year, and all the ways you can help!
