School News (NEW)
Hello Sunnyside Community,
Recently On Point selected their On Point Teacher of the Year and our very own Tiffany Koyama Lane was selected as the K-5 runner up. We are very proud of her and send our congratulations her way.
We also recognized our volunteers at our PTSA meeting today with treats and handmade cards from our students. Our school couldn't run without the dedication of our parents and community members. We are really grateful and are looking forward to working with this great community next year.
Looking forward to our last few days of school. What a fun year this has been and please hold these last few days close, they slip away so fast.
Thank you,
Eryn & Alix

Dear 6th and 7th grade families.....
True to the great sense of community that Sunnyside has fostered over the many years our children attend school together, it's a tradition that 6th and 7th grade families come together to create a loving 8th Grade Promotion ceremony. Our collaboration is a gift to the 8th graders whose accomplishments and contributions are numerous to our community, their families, and our school. It is a pay it forward gift that we will receive when our children celebrate their promotion.
The 2023 Sunnyside 8th Grade Promotion is Monday, June 12 from 6-8 pm in the Franklin High School auditorium (on the corner of SE 52nd and SE Woodward). Our job is to coordinate the festivities beforehand and help in both the set up and clean/tear down the day of the event so the 8th graders and their families can relax and celebrate. We ask that ALL 6th & 7th grade families help make this a memorable occasion for our 8th graders and their families.
Please sign up to make this a great event as we send off our 8th graders!
8th grade parents are encouraged to come participate in the making of flower crowns. Monday, June 12th from 9am-noon in the art room.
Student Chromebook Check In begins Thursday June 8th
Please help your students have their Chromebooks, chargers, unneeded hotspots and any other tech extras brought back to SES by June 8th at the latest. Students can return them to their class/core rooms for collection and final processing. This will help us have a successful summer reset and ensure we are all ready for the next year. Students not returning to SES or graduating 5th & 8th graders Chromebooks will be reset and repurposed for this year's rising 2nd graders. Thanks for your help!
Middle School dance: Wednesday, June 14, 6-8 pm
Our end-of-year middle school dance is coming up on the last day of school: Wednesday, June 14 from 6-8 pm. For the dance to happen, we will need chaperones! Sign up here to chaperone or bring snacks. (Chaperones must have active volunteer background checks.)
The dance starts promptly at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm—please make sure students have plans to arrive and leave at these precise times. Permission slips will come home a few days before the event. We request a $5 donation to cover the cost of the dance, but no child will be turned away for lack of funds.
