A Message from Principal Driscoll
Happy December, Salem! The year keeps flying by, but we’ve got a few great weeks left before winter break.
It was a privilege to run with our Salem Girls on the Run crew before Thanksgiving break. All of our girls worked so hard and accomplished their goals this season. Very proud of all of them!
Thank you to those of you who attended conferences prior to Thanksgiving. If you’d like to provide feedback, please click here for a short Google form.
We are participating in CCMC’s PJ day for the Kids on Friday, 12/8. Please remind your students they should dress in their PJs that day and bring a $1 donation. You may also donate online using the link below. Looking forward to supporting this great cause!
Spirit Week is coming the week of December 18th. Please be on the lookout for a flyer next week with details of what each day will entail. Currently, the student body is being polled for their top 5 choices. More details to come!
Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday!

Student Spotlight
Please join us in supporting two of our Salem students this weekend as they perform in the Broadway Kids & Company production of Matilda the Musical at the Garde Arts Theatre. Rosalie Hunt and Lily Hahnel have been working hard, along with the rest of the cast, with long rehearsals (5 hours) and loving every bit of it! See flyer for more details!
Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run ended their season on Saturday, November 18th with a celebratory 5k. This closing event gives program participants of all abilities a tangible sense of accomplishment. Crossing the finish line instills confidence through completion and is a joyful moment program participants always remember!
CONGRATULATIONS to our Salem GOTR team on another incredible season!
Salem School Choir
Also on Saturday November 18th, Salem School Choir took the ice at the Hartford Wolfpack Stadium to sing the National Anthem. What a wonderful performance!
Grades K - 3 Balloon Parade
Before Thanksgiving Break, grades K-3 read and learned about Tony Sarg (who was a puppeteer who created the first giant balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade) through the story "Balloons Over Broadway" by Melissa Sweet.
On Monday, November 20th, they held a “Balloon Parade” throughout Salem School! Grades 4 - 8 lined up in the hallways to cheer them on! Great job, all!
