Town V Country Cross Country Tuesday 3 September at TET Stadium
Each student will need:
- some warm clothing,
- plenty of water to drink,
- snacks and lunch (Parent Link are running a sausage sizzle at the event $2 each)
- Running shoes would be the preferred option, but bare feet can be worn when racing.
Sensible shoes will be required regardless, as we are walking down to the stadium, departing at 11.00am. Racing should be completed by 2pm (approximately). 5 and 6 year olds will be bussed down to the stadium.
Programme starts at 12:00 and runs in order as below with boys running first in each age group, girls starting after a 2min interval. We can never give you a time for starting of any age group other than the start time. As you can appreciate the races can take a lot of time or a short time – all depending on runner speed and conditions.
Order of racing - 7, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13.
We need help!!! If you can lend a hand let us know at the office.
Parent Link Sausage Sizzle – $2 at TET Stadium
Emergency Drills
As you may be aware, we do drills at school to teach students to be safe and carry out procedures during an emergency. Currently many of our policies and procedures are being reviewed.
We will in the coming weeks carry out a lockdown drill. This is a drill for a number of scenarios such as Tornado, neighbouring gas leak, wild animal, volcanic eruption/ash fall, Police instigated lockdown, bomb threat or intruder. We are trying to teach students the many and varied reasons with less focus on the most sensationalised or worst scenario. Our aim is to get students responding in a calm manner and keeping the focus on what we need to do rather than the cause of the situation. This will reduce heightened anxieties.
We are aware of some students with such anxiety and with your help and our support we will endeavour to develop these routines less of a challenge.
When a Lockdown takes place the following happens:
· Parents are contacted by our messaging system stating that it has taken place.
· A letter outlining what has taken place (not for a drill).
· A debrief takes place looking at the process and outcomes.
How you can help:
· Talk to your children about the ways they can stay calm and quiet (not to upset other students but rather being strong together doing the right thing)
· Discuss all the reasons for lockdown
· Talking about following the instructions by staff for their safety
Happy Birthday / Ra Whanau
Our school roll is currently 380.

Safety Concerns/Near Misses On Crossings
1 parent has offered help so far! We need more help. (Buddy up with someone)
There have been a number of problems on the Miro Street pedestrian crossing. The traffic and congestion are making it difficult for our young students to manage. We need parents to step up and support us with manning this morning 0830-0855 and afternoon 1455-1515, like our few lovely volunteers are doing now. HELP please. Contact the office to add your name to the roster assist with the safety of our children. Many hands make light work. We would like to not have students manning this in the near future as the traffic is increasing.
