Colder Weather
Whenever possible all K-5 and ABC students will spend some time outdoors, so please be sure they have coats, hats, and mittens (snow pants and boots when they are needed).
Please label your student’s sweatshirts, coat, hat, snow pants, gloves, mittens, lunchbox, etc.
Lost and Found
This year we are doing something new with lost and found. As you can see in the photos we already have a ton of items, we are going to post this weekly and if items are not claimed with-in two weeks we will be donating them. If you see something that belongs to your student please come into the school and pick it up.
3rd Grade
Mrs. Johnson's class will be going to the Grout Museum in Waterloo to attend the Museum School on November 14-17th.
Penny War November 6-10
The National Honor Society (NHS) is hosting a penny war to fundraise money for a service project. We will be using the proceeds to shop for underprivileged families from the Cedar Valley. This will be a system-wide fundraiser and all proceeds will be used to buy gifts and supplies for these families.
A student from NHS will be visiting your child's classroom and explaining the rules of the penny war next week. Pennies and paper money will be positive points for their classroom. Silver coins will be negative points for them to give to other classrooms. Competition will be within units (K-2, 3-5, MS and HS) Winning classrooms will get an ice cream treat. The penny war will begin on November 6 and run through the 10th. Thank you in advance for your contribution and for helping these families have a Merry Christmas.
Lighthouse Food Drive
BCSS Families,
The DB Lighthouse Team will host a non-perishable food drive from December 4th to 6th at Immaculate Conception and DBHS for the Knights of Columbus’ Care and Share program. Our goal is to help families in need this holiday season. Each day will serve a different purpose regarding what items to bring. On the 4th, students can bring in canned goods. On the 5th, they can bring in boxed goods. Lastly, on the 6th, students can bring any toiletry items. All donations can be dropped off right in your child’s homeroom. Thank you in advance for your support!

NHS Blood Drive
A huge thank you to the community. Our National Honor Society (NHS) sponsored blood drive on Tuesday, November 7 was a huge success. We had 72 people check-in at the drive and collected 7 Power Reds and 60 Whole Bloods for a total count of 74 units. This was our biggest drive at the high school in recent years. I am especially proud of the students who stepped up to participate in the drive. 22 students checked in to try and give blood. There were 16 first time donors, 14 of them being students. Thanks again to all who came out to donate. Ms. Mayer, NHS advisor.
Pee Wee Wrestling Practice
Pee Wee wrestling practice will begin on Wednesday, November 15, and run through the end of January. Practices will be at 5:15 PM right after High School practice. Please have your student get ready in the weight room hallway and be respectful of the high school team until we're ready to let loose. If you have any questions about Pee Wee practices, feel free to contact Isaiah Corbin at 712-389-5174.
