This Week at Windsor 4.30.2021
Teachers make a difference at any distance...
Windsor Families,
We hope you all had a wonderful week. It was so great to see all of our students present for in-person learning on Monday! I can't believe that April is over and May begins tomorrow, I feel like April just started! Next week is Teacher Appreciation week, while we always appreciate everything our teachers do for our students, next week we will be celebrating them! Thank you to all of the room parents that have been hard at work planning some really special days for our teachers!
Register for the 2021-22 School Year: The 2021-2022 AHSD Online Registration System will be launched on Monday, May 3rd. Families will receive an email asking them to complete the online registration process. Please do register as soon as possible!
Field Day: Our PE department has been working on field day plans, this year field day will look a bit different, we will be having field day events in all PE classes the last two weeks of the school year.
MAP info: NWEA MAP spring 2021 reports for IN-PERSON 2nd - 8th-grade students will be sent home via backpack mail on Friday, May 7th. If you would rather pick up your child's report, please contact the school's main office by Thursday, May 6th. Reports for REMOTE 2nd - 8th-grade students may be picked up in the school's main office by the end of the school day on May 7th. All MAP reports not picked up by the end of the school day on May 7th will be mailed home.
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR): Starting on Wednesday, students in grades 3-5 will be taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR). The IAR is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the Illinois Learning Standards incorporating the Common Core and will be administered in English Language Arts and Mathematics. Fifth-grade students will also be administered the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA). District 25 uses the IAR and ISA results to evaluate the effectiveness of overall programming. IAR and ISA results are not used for student placement into support services or advanced placement. Our approach to this assessment with our students is to encourage them to try their best to show us what they know, but we do not want this to become a source of stress for them. The schedule for the IAR and ISA assessments can be found below.
Zooming: Just to clarify, we will not approve zooming into classrooms for students/siblings until we receive a positive Covid test or our nurse has recommended quarantine due to the close contact of a positive Covid case. Reminder, it may take up to one school day for the teachers to set up technology and have materials ready for pick up in the vestibule. Many of our classrooms no longer have any remote students left.
Drop and Go: Just a reminder to please pull up as far as possible on Windsor Drive before and after school, this allows for more cars to enter Windsor Drive and keeps the intersection clear.
Have a wonderful wildcat weekend,
Mrs. Anastacio and Mrs. Soprano

Notes from the Health Office...
Hi Parents!
We are seeing an uptick in illness and seasonal allergies. These health issues often have the same symptoms of COVID. If your child has symptoms of COVID they can be tested in our COVID 19 testing clinic free of charge at Thomas Middle School from 3-4:30 every school day! You must make an appointment for your child (only for students in district #25 that have symptoms).
Here is the link:

Please remember to keep your child home from school and any siblings that have any COVID symptoms and contact me (your school nurse).
Thank you again for partnering with us to continue to keep Windsor School a safe place for everyone!
Sincerely,
Darlene Carpenter, RN
Windsor School Nurse
