March 2020
Meeting in Review
The Methacton Board of School Directors held their first ever virtual Board Meeting on March 31, 2020. Having scheduled this meeting following the cancellation of two previous meetings in March due to the COVID-19 forced school closures and social distancing measures, the Board used Zoom virtual webinar platform to conduct the business of the School District. Please note that the Methacton School District will be holding all Committees of the Board, Work Session and Board voting meetings in April via a virtual platform. Please check the district website for further information as the date for those meetings occur.
The Board approved the 2020-2021 North Montco Technical Career Center budget, which has an increase of $36,326 from the 2019-2020 budget. The NMTCC serves approximately 1150 students in 21 technical programs -- including 150 full-time students in our Pennsylvania Youth Apprenticeship Program (PYAP) -- from the 5 surrounding school districts: Methacton, North Penn, Wissahickon, Perkiomen Valley, and Souderton. NMTCC operates a three-session day. Operating three sessions accommodates students who otherwise may not have the ability to attend the CTC. In addition to secondary technical training, North Montco Technical Career Center offers numerous continuing education programs, such as Drivers Education, PA Safety and Emission Certifications, Welding, Mechatronics/Robotics, Precision Machining, and ServSafe Certification.
Ms. Andrea Rees was re-appointed as the Methacton representative to serve on the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Board of School Directors for a term expiring June 30, 2021. Ms. Rees currently serves in this capacity for the district along with serving on the North Montco Technical Career Center Board. She was appointed unanimously.
High School Graduation
The Methacton High School graduation date has been established for seniors on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
While there is some challenge in what the venue and specific arrangements will be considering the uncertainty of shelter-in-place orders and pending COVID-19 matters, please remain apprised that we are making plans and will communicate once we have greater certainty for holding an appropriate ceremony.
