WIAA DIVISION 2 STATE FOOTBALL
Dear Staff & Families,
Our high school football team will be playing in the State semifinal football game on Friday, November 10, 2023. With a win on Friday evening, they would advance to the WIAA Division 2 State Football Championship. This game will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Camp Randall on Friday, November 17, 2023.
In the event of a win on Friday, November 10, we are intending to hold school on Friday, November 17, 2023, while supporting the student groups that are also part of this event such as the band, dance team, cheer squad, and high school student body. We do realize that many families would intend to attend the football game and we will excuse students for the State Tournament. Should the team advance, we will be in touch next week with more information on the game, excusing your child for the game, and transportation considerations.
Thank you for your support.
MSAN Student Conference 2023
Five students represented WCHS at the Multicultural Student Achievement Network annual conference from Nov 1st -4th in Madison. Joining over 160 students from 16 districts nationwide, accompanied by dedicated chaperones, our students delved into a world of diversity, inclusion, and belonging. The conference was an educational extravaganza with enlightening keynote speakers, eye-opening college tours, and empowering workshops that fueled our students' enthusiasm and drive.
Library Media & Technology Center (LMTC)
Peer Tutoring
Our 1st quarter saw many students visit our Peer Tutors in the LMTC. For more information about peer tutoring assistance, visit our Peer Tutoring & Writing Center website.
Thing of the Month
It's a new month, so there's a new Thing of the Month in the LMTC! Stop in today to guess what it is and what it does. Fill out a slip and hand it to Mrs. Brown. Correct answers will be entered into a drawing at the end of the month to win a Kokopelli coupon!
Reading Material
Ever wonder what reading materials we have in the LMTC that you may not know about? One of our little known magazines that is published quarterly is Mazina'igan: A Chronicle of the Lake Superior Ojibwe. Published by the Great Lakes Indian Fish & Wildlife Commission, this magazine focuses on indigenous news as it pertains to the Wisconsin environment and treaty rights of its citizens.
Policy Reminder
Our teachers and library lessons will include further discussion throughout the year about the advent of new AI tools like ChatGPT. As a reminder, our updated student handbook policy regarding academic honesty and plagiarism addresses this specifically to help guide you as you write and study.
Academic Honesty: “Use of generative AI programs such as ChatGPT by students on graded assignments is prohibited, except with the express permission of the teacher, in which case the use of AI must be cited by the student. Unauthorized use of AI on graded assignments by the student will be treated as an academic honesty violation.”
