Hello, parents and Happy Wednesday to you! We are sending this a little early because there is no school tomorrow (Thursday), Friday, or Monday!

We celebrated our Straight A and Honor Roll students this week. I am super-thrilled to celebrate them. If your child made either of these lists, please take the time to congratulate them.

If your child did not quite make the Honor Roll, talk to them about ways to improve their grades or makeup tests. Students can makeup any tests that are not District Assessments. This is a great way to bring grades up. Encourage them to do their best, and to be their best, in school.

February 22: I want to invite each of you to the school at 6 pm on February 22nd for a special presentation on Teen Trends, Social Media, and other things impacting our youth today. The more we know, as parents, the more empowered we are as parents. Please consider attending this special presentation.

We have 27 amazing SMS young scientists participating in the virtual Gwinnett County Science and Engineering Fair on Friday, February 25.

A HUGE thanks to our amazing coordinator Mrs. Beg, our science coach Dr. Duggirala, and our club co-coach Dr. Shukla for helping these children prepare for this tough competition across the county.

It's February! February's goal is 86% complete by the end of the month.

Have your student stay in practice and work on Khan Academy daily. Short sessions every day will do wonders. We are giving incentives out each month. We also have a Khan Saturday Program - ask your math teacher to join!

ACCESS Testing

• ACCESS testing for our English Language Learners is nearly complete...but not over yet. There are several parts to the test. Please ensure students are rested and ready on the day of the test.

If your child was selected for AAP, our no cost credit recovery program, round 2 started Tuesday @ 7:15am

How do you know if your child was selected?

• We sent a letter home with the student last week
• We also emailed a PDF copy of the letter home last Friday

Round 2: Language Arts and Science Dates

• 7:15 am to 8:15 am

Parents or guardians must provide transportation to the school; Students will need to be dropped off in the back or the building (car rider lane).

For the 2022-23 school year, Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) will offer a digital learning option for students in grades K-12 through Gwinnett Online Campus (GOC), opening GOC’s program to K-3 students for the first time. Digital students at all grade levels will enroll full-time at GOC rather than being enrolled at their local neighborhood/zoned school.
