TEACHER ASSIGNMENTS
ORIENTATION
We are so excited to see everyone at Open House on August 24 (Kindergarten Only) and August 25th for 1st-5th grades! *You should report to your homeroom teacher first and then visit the cafeteria for bus information and to get car rider tags. If your student will be an afternoon car rider please fill out the form below no later than August 23rd and we'll have the tags ready for you to pick up from your teacher at Open House.
*PTO will have a table where you can pre-order SWES spirit wear and join PTO!
*YMCA representatives will be on campus with information regarding before and after school care
*You can pay your fees at Orientation or you can pay online (preferred). You will need your student's PowerSchool number to pay online at schoolcashonline.com. If you don't know the PS number, you can get it at Orientation. OCS has waived the art and instructional supply fee for all K-5 students this year; this was done after post cards were printed. The only fee is the $25 laptop usage fee.
*You may also drop off any supplies at Orientation!
Morning Drop Off
While we welcome parents on our campus, safety is always a priority. Parents of students in grades 1-5 will be permitted to walk their student(s) to the classroom on the first day of school only and should be on their way out by the time the bell rings at 8:15. It is recommended that only those parents who did not attend Orientation walk their students in. We will have a lot of adults on hand to make sure students get where they need to be.
KINDERGARTEN ONLY- Buses will run as normal on the 3 days of staggered enrollment (August 29, 30, 31); however, if you want to bring your student to school on those days, please arrive at 8:30am and plan to leave no later than 9:00. This will allow time for traffic to thin out and allow us to focus on a calm, smooth start for our Kinders! Beginning September 1 all students should arrive prior to 8:15. Kindergarten parents may walk students to class only during the first week, August 29-September 2.
DISMISSAL
Car riders are dismissed at 3:00 and will dismiss in the same line as morning drop-off.
Buses typically leave campus by 3:15
For all grades, please make sure your car tag is visible and plan for students to enter the vehicle on the passenger side. This really does speed up the car line! If your child will routinely be a car rider you can fill out the car tag request form below and we will have the tag ready for you to pick up from your teacher at orientation. Please fill out the form for each child. The tag will be given to the teacher of your oldest student.
Please be patient the first few days!
*Early checkouts are not permitted after 2:45pm at anytime throughout the year. At this time students are preparing for dismissal. Any transportation changes must be submitted no later than 2:30 each day.
Meals
Breakfast is $1.25
If students are eating breakfast at school they should report directly to the cafeteria before going to class. The only exception is Kindergarten - they should report directly to class and will be taken to the cafeteria as a group.
Lunch is $2.50
If you need to apply for free or reduced meals the application can be found via the link below or you can get a paper copy at Orientation.
Student Dress Code
It is expected that students will be dressed and groomed appropriately. If students are not following the dress code the parent will be called to bring a change of clothes. Dress code guidelines are as follows:
1. Hats and hoods are not to be worn in the building.
2. Shorts, skirts, dresses and skorts must be appropriate length (Fingertip length is a good rule of thumb).
3. If leggings are worn then tunic length shirts or appropriate length skirt/dresses should also be worn over the leggings.
4. Shirts must extend past the waist of the pants to avoid display of midriff even when arms are raised. Crop tops are not permitted.
5. Clothing that encourages the use of tobacco, alcohol or other drugs, or clothing that contains the use of profanity or inappropriate slang/pictures, including weapons, is not permitted.
6. Students should wear shoes that are appropriate for daily recess and physical education activities. Sandals and dress shoes should have heel straps to avoid injury (No flip-flops). Tennis shoes are recommended for daily wear.
