Hi Eagle Families,

Happy Hanukkah! This week our staff and students did an amazing job with demonstrating our emergency protocols during the unexpected building evacuation. The staff and students exited the building in less than two minutes, followed all behavior expectations and listened to the directions of their teachers. This ensured that all students were kept safe. Flossmoor Hills even received praise from the Flossmoor Fire Department for doing a remarkable job!

Flossmoor Hills students are helping to grow the grinch's heart by showing acts of kindness to others. Students caught displaying kind acts will place their name on a heart and it will be added to our bulletin board.

Mr. Olsson, our STEAM teacher challenged the 4th grade students to build a standing structure of spaghetti using string, tape and a marshmallow. Students worked collaboratively to plan and problem solve how to figure out the task. Kudos to the students above for winning the challenge!

The winter concert will be held at Parker Jr. High on Wednesday, December 20th at 6:00 p.m. Grades K-2 and the choir will be performing.

Mr. Geno is one of the bus drivers for Flossmoor Hills. He decorates his bus seasonally for the students on his route to enjoy. It is a treat to walk on his bus and see the many decorations and positive messages posted on the roof and sides of the bus. The students on Mr. Geno's route are always excited to see what new additions have been added to the bus. Mr. Geno dismisses the students every morning for arrival with a positive affirmation. He encourages students to listen to their teachers, follow the rules and try their best as they exit the bus. Thank you Mr. Geno for enjoying what you do and for bringing some cheer to our students.

Students will wait outside for morning arrival and go outside for recess if the temperature is 20 degrees or greater and the weather is not inclement. Please be sure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for the weather.

Students enjoyed coding on Friday. The Hour of Code is a free introduction to computer science through fun activities and videos for learners of all skill levels. Students across the United States participate in coding activities during the hour of code. If you would like your child to code at home, access the link below.

Breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Students eating breakfast should enter the main entry doors (Door A) upon arrival to school.

• Kindergarten and 5th Grade - 11:30 a.m. - recess begins at 11:50 a.m.
• 1st Grade and 3rd Grade - 12:10 p.m. - recess begins at 12:30 p.m.
• 2nd Grade and 4th Grade - 11:50 a.m. - recess begins at 12:10 p.m.

If you need to drop off lunch to your student after the school day has started, you may utilize the grade level bins on the cart in the foyer. Please label your child's lunch bag.

Reminder: Lunches sent to the school by food delivery services such as Uber Eats, GrubHub, DoorDash, etc. are not allowed.

Log into your child's Skyward account to load money to purchase breakfast and lunch. Please check your child's account regularly.

If you would like to celebrate your child's birthday in school, please send non edible items to share (i.e., pencils, bubbles, stickers, etc.). We cannot allow students to share outside food/treats in school.

Flossmoor Hills is seeking volunteers to run the Eagle Cart. The Eagle Cart has tons of goodies for students to shop with their hard-earned Eagle Bucks. Volunteers will go around to each classroom with the cart and collect Eagle Bucks as the students shop. Our next Eagle Cart date is Friday, December 15, 2023!

As a reminder all volunteers must have a state issued ID scanned to participate.
