National Honor Society
National Honor Society - advanced planning for grade 10 and 11 students who may be eligible to be inducted
Students who have completed winter trimester of their sophomore year with a cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.8 may be considered for National Honor Society. In addition, students in grades 10-11 with a 3.6 GPA and above and Honors Status may be considered for membership. Membership in the local chapter is an honor bestowed upon a student.
An application process is required for those who meet the requirements. Selection for membership is by a faculty council and is based on outstanding scholarship, service, leadership and character. Once selected, members have the responsibility to continue to demonstrate the qualities which earned them membership.
An Induction Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023, for new inductees and returning members. New members must participate in our Induction Ceremony. Membership is transferred along with a student to a new school.
In order to be considered for this honor, the student must complete an application and information form which is given to eligible students in April. Student eligibility will first be determined by GPA. The areas of leadership, service (24+ documented hours that are not required by another organization from June until the time of application are required), and character must be demonstrated by the student and verified in the application.
This service hour requirement is important for upcoming 10th graders or 11th graders who hope to apply for membership this April.
Consult the EHS website for more detailed information. Student Organizations

Don't Know What Ultimate Frisbee Is?
Ultimate is a non-contact sport played with a flying disc (or Frisbee™).
Two teams of seven players* compete on a playing field about the same length as a football field*, but narrower. At each end of the playing field there is an end zone. Each team defends one end zone. They score a goal if one of their players catches the disc in the opposite end zone.
The player with the disc is called the thrower. The thrower may not run with the disc. Instead they move the disc by passing to team-mates in any direction.
The defensive team gets possession of the disc if an offensive team’s throw is not caught by a player of the same team. Then the defensive team becomes the offensive team and can try to score in the opposite end zone.
*Our middle school league competes with 5 players instead of 7 and the field they play on is smaller as well.

HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY
Rugby registration is open for our Girls and Boys high school teams.
Our Varsity Girls are looking to defend their State Championship after embarking on their first tour of Scotland over spring break. Our Varsity Boys are continuing to rebuild after our 2021 State Championship and once again expect to compete at the top.
WE NEED PLAYERS. No experience is necessary. In rugby, everybody plays, everybody carries the ball, and everybody tackles. Rugby suits all body shapes and sizes, and teaches explosiveness, decision-making, and agility. Rugby is the only spring sport that teaches safe and highly effective tackling to improve HS football player performance and avoid injury. We are an ISD 196 club sport, meaning Varsity players may earn their letter.
Practice begins on March 1st (8:30PM @TCO Dome-Lakeville North) and the season runs through the end of the school year. More information, including registration links, may be found at https://www.eaasports.org/rugby.

What is the Polar Plunge?
“The Cool School Mobile Plunge gives schools the opportunity to rally around inclusion while participating in a unique and wildly fun event! The Polar Plunge website explained what it is by saying, “The concept is simple: staff and students register and fundraise money for Special Olympics Minnesota and their school, teams, clubs or groups. In the process, participants earn awesome incentives and get the chance to jump into freezing cold water. The day of the event, we bring the Polar Plunge directly to your school with the Plungester, a custom-designed mobile Plunge pool!”

We are experiencing concerns with damage to restrooms - especially boys restrooms. When that happens the restroom has to be closed for cleaning/repair and that makes it unavailable for student use for a period of time. Please report, using this anonymous method, the information about this problem. Thanks!
