Student Re-Enrollment and the KIBSD Parent Portal
Re-enrollment for the 2023-24 school year is now open!
We ask all families with students that will be returning to North Star in the Fall to re-enroll by checking and updating their information for the year to come. The process is slightly different, but easily accessed through your current Powerschool Parent Portal. Each family should have received an email with more information and a link to start the process. Let us know if you would like us to resend that information.
Please do not hesitate to call Megan or Natalie in the office @907-486-7500 if you need help signing in to your portal. We are always happy to update passwords/emails and make sure access is set up correctly for you. If you have a student that was new to North Star this year, we may still need to create a parent portal account for you. Just give us a call to do so.
Thank you for all you do.

All funds raised will support our kinder classrooms.
February Breakfast and Lunch Menu
KIBSD Meal Program and Account Payments
If you want to deposit lunch money with a credit card through your PowerSchool parent portal,
please remember that you will need to access the online version.
You can find that link on the www.KIBSD.org website, under the FAMILIES tab.
KIBSD does not support the PowerSchool App, so you won't be able to pay fees that way.
Even though some student info is viewable on the app,
it does not connect to our PowerSchool lunch or activity fee accounts.
We are also always happy to accept cash or checks for student lunch accounts in the office.
Call us @907-486-7500 if you have questions or need any help with parent portal access.
Do we belong to you? We are ready to go home!
The team will be doing a thorough Lost-n-Found clean out soon.
Any items not claimed will be donated after 2/10/23.
WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!
Start the process and be ready to help out at school.
Just email volunteer@kibsd.org to get started.
See flyer below for details.
We look forward to having you help out around the school!
A Note from the Nurse
Dear North Star Families,
February is National Children's Dental Health Month! Here are a few reminders and tips to help prevent tooth decay:
- Brush teeth 2x a day for 2 minutes. Consider using fluoride toothpaste and continue to supervise/assist with brushing till your child is 7-8 years old.
- Help your child floss or clean between teeth daily.
- Visit the dentist regularly. Children should see the dentist every 6 months for check-ups and cleanings.
- Encourage children to eat a healthy diet and try to limit sweet drinks, sticky candies, and sticky snacks.
- Talk to your child's dentist about applying sealants to chewing surfaces of teeth, especially when adult teeth come in. Also ask your dentist about fluoride treatments.
- Try to avoid sharing utensils with your child, you can transfer cavity causing germs to your child.
Let's work together to teach kids the benefits of good oral care so they can develop healthy habits and build a healthy SMILE to last a lifetime.
Sincerely,
Nurse Michelle
