Leader's Council
The next meeting of the Skamania County Leader's Council will take place on Monday, May 22nd at 6:30pm in the West End Meeting Room at the Hegewald Center in Stevenson. A zoom option will be available for this meeting. Bring an internet capable device if you would like help with ShoWorks!
Quilt squares needed!
Don't forget our county 4-H quilt! Marion is gathering squares until May 15th so she has time to assemble it before fair. This quilt will be auctioned off at fair and proceeds will go to our 4-H Leader's Council!
Monday Deadline!
If you haven't enrolled in 4honline yet, your time is running out! The deadline to enroll and participate in fair is Monday, May 1st. Youth members & Volunteers can continue to enroll after that date, but will not be able to participate in fair with 4-H. Regardless of your fair plans, be sure to enroll before you engage in 4-H!
Library Help Needed!
The Friends of the Stevenson Library are hosting a Used Book Sale and have asked 4-H to help pack up after the sale. Come to the library on Saturday from 4:30-6:30 to help our community partners and practice that 4-H Generosity!
Horse Events
Our friends in Klickitat County have some great offerings coming up for 4-H Horse kids, and they have invited Skamania County to participate! If you're interested in either of these, reach out to Somer for the registration information!
Swine Weigh In
Swine Weigh in is coming up! Be at the Skamania County fairgrounds with your perfect pigs on Saturday, May 13th at 9am!
Be sure to write down your weight & tag number to be submitted with your registration!
Horse Certificates
For all of our 4-H Horse Exhibitors, we are working on a new registration system that will combine our horse certificates and the fair registration process. We are working feverishly to get that ready- watch your emails! The turnaround time will be tight to make sure we are in line with care and control standards. Thank you for your patience!
Registering for Fair
All animal projects will need to be registered this year by June 15th (market, breed, & horse!). The fair board will be using the ShoWorks system and everything is being finalized now. In the next few weeks, an email will come out with the link, instructions, a video... everything you need to be successful. This will replace the google forms and animal certificates used previously. Be prepared to upload a photo of your project animal and if you are a market exhibitor, keep track of your weights at your weigh in so you can enter that data. More soon!
Ducks
We have a 4-H family with a plethora of ducks that they are looking to re-home. If you would like to take on some ducks, let the 4-H office know and we will put you in contact with them!
Volunteer Opportunity
The Camas Farmer's Market is looking for 4-H clubs who might want to host a booth at the summer Farmer's Market. The booth would run simple & fun activities around health & nutrition for kids visiting the market. There are 4 dates available. If you would be interested, you can send an email to vendorliaison@camasfarmersmarket.org
Poster Making Kits Available Soon!
The 4-H office will have poster making kits available for any registered 4-H member who would like one. These will be available at Leader's Council for club leaders to pick up, and then available in the 4-H office after that. We will also have them at fair orientation in July! Kits include poster board, poster requirements, markers, scissors, glue sticks, colored pencils, and fun cut outs.
