An Update From Breakthrough at Kent Denver
To our Breakthrough at Kent Denver Community,
For the past three weeks we, as a Breakthrough community, have been navigating the current reality of virtual engagement for our 2020 summer program. While we would love to be together in person, our amazing and driven community continues to show up in a big way and is adjusting very well to the online version of Breakthrough. Similar to our regular in-person summers, we are still focused on providing rigorous academic curriculum to keep our students engaged, on track, and on the path to college. We also continue to provide the fun Breakthrough cultural components that make our community special and unique. We are so thankful for the patience and commitment our community has shown.
In efforts to allow space for in person engagement, we have implemented one hour social distancing Friday meetups. To ensure that we are in line with current CDC recommendations and guidelines, we assigned all of our Breakthrough students to one of ten locations around the Denver area. In addition, we provide two separate times for our students to be present to ensure that we are only hosting smaller groups. We require students and staff to wear mask, place ground markers six feet apart to maintain social distancing, provide ample amounts of hand sanitizer, and wear gloves whenever touching or distributing snacks or other materials. Please see below for some of the photos from previous Friday meetups.
Breakthrough remains dedicated to supporting our students and staff despite the current challenges that we face. With the entire BKD community committed to "hard work, dedication, respect, fun, and most of all excellence in learning", this summer will be one for the books!
