It was a unbelievable day today at Fletcher. Our 2nd/3rd grade combo class was selected by SDUSD School Police to participate in the "True Blue Buddies" program. Each student received the opportunity to be paired with a School Police officer for the year who will serve in a mentorship role. Today the students and their buddies went on a trip to Target in Mira Mesa to shop for school supplies and new clothes. Upon returning to Fletcher, the officers and students had recess together and enjoyed a pizza party. The pictures below say it all!

This week we also noticed a rise in non-covid related illnesses on campus. It's typical for this time of year as students return to school. Please remind your student to wash their hands, use sanitizer, get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and wear a mask if they're a little stuffy or have a minor cough. As a reminder, students must stay home if they have a fever and may not return until they've been fever free for 24 hours without the use of medication and symptoms are subsiding.

Next week we're hosting our first PTA Meeting of the year at 5PM in the Library. On the agenda is executive board elections, discussions about upcoming events, and growing our school garden. You don't want to miss it! If you haven't yet joined, click this link: Fletcher PTA Membership

This week's Student of the Week is Nehemiah in Mrs. Quaal's 3rd grade class. Nehemiah is someone who has a big heart and is a friend to everyone. He works hard and makes sure he is always doing what’s right. Nehemiah does his best and goes out of his way to help his peers and adults on campus. Well done, Nehemiah! Thanks for exemplifying what it means to be a leader at Fletcher Elementary School!
