FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Father Doyle Families,
A Catholic priest from Canada is visiting with Fr. Kieton and stopped by prayer service today. He remarked to me how wonderful it is to see a school community gather together in prayer to start the day. It was a beautiful reminder of what a gift it is to be together each morning. Indeed, it is hard not to smile hearing our elementary students proudly reciting our mission statement and and joyously singing "God Bless America, or "America the Beautiful" at the end of each service.
This week, our readings at prayer service have come from the letters of St. Paul and provided consistent reminders of what we are called to as a Catholic school rooted in the Roman Catholic Tradition. "Maintain constant love for one another," Paul tells us, "being hospitable to one another," with "Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone." As we conclude another week at Father Doyle School and look ahead to the next, I pray we all may take Saint Paul's words to heart and seek, all the more, to love one another with Christ always at the center of what we do here.
As a reminder, our Virtues in Practice program continues this month with the virtue of reverence: showing your deepest respect for things of God. Check out the Virtue Corner below for more information, including optional home projects for families!
Parent-Teacher Conferences - Thursday, October 20th & Friday, October 21st
All parents received an email today with details regarding our Fall parent-teacher conferences coming up on October 20th and 21st. Aftercare will run until 5:30pm on October 20th. An important reminder that Friday, October 21st will be an asynchronous learning day.
Please note that teachers will provide students with assignments and materials either in hard copy the day prior, or via Google Classroom. There will be no live video classes, and students should not come to the school unless attending middle school conferences. These assignments represent a portion of the school day and are designed to allow students to continue their learning progression while teachers meet with parents for conferences. It is not possible to recreate the entirety of the school day for an asynchronous learning day.
Hard copies of scheduling forms for conferences are also being sent home today. You can also find a digital copy of the forms below, keeping in mind that there are separate forms for students in grades PK-5 and students in grades 6-8. We look forward to seeing you at conferences!

CAL Basketball Interest Survey
Is your child in grades 3-8? Is he or she interested in playing basketball at Father Doyle School?
We are currently conducting an interest survey for all students interested in participating in CAL Basketball for the 2022-2023 season. Please note, we are only to register teams that can field a complete roster for the competitive season. As a result, the formation of teams across the grade levels is dependent upon student interest and coaching availability.
Please complete the brief survey HERE to express interest in participating and receive additional information in the coming week. Responses due no later than Friday, October 7th.
Lunch & Ice Cream Orders for November
Lunch & ice cream orders are now open on the FACTS Family Portal. A reminder that ordering forms go live on the 7th of every month and close on the 14th of every month. Thank you!
Dress Down Day for Charity - Thursday, October 27th
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. With this in mind, Father Doyle School will be holding a dress down day for charity on Thursday, October 27th in support of cancer research. Students are encouraged to wear pink to show their support, and there is a suggested $2.00 donation to dress down.
Reminder: Drop-Off Procedures
As a reminder, the drop-off spots in front of the gymnasium are available for students who are able to exit their vehicles unassisted. This helps us keep the line moving and avoids traffic on the entry road.
If your child needs assistance exiting the car, please use the parking spaces in our lot and walk your child to the building with the assistance of our Safety Patrol members. Thank you!
Newsies Need Your Newspapers!
Our drama club production of Newsies, Jr. is looking for newspapers for the production! If you have gently used newspapers, please bring them in to donate to the show. You can leave the newspapers with Mrs. Burns or Mrs. Jarvis in the front office. Thank you for your support!
Don't forget to keep scrolling below for photos and more information! Have a great weekend! God bless, and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin
