The creche is open from 8am to 12noon Monday to Friday and lunch is optional. With so much to explore, so many friends to meet and so much fun to be had, don't delay in getting in touch! We look forward to hearing from you soon and meeting your child to help them begin their learning journey at KISU.
It’s the cycle of life…
Year 2 have been busy learning about life cycles in their science lessons. Humans, frogs, ducks and butterflies. We have also been teaching Year 1 and reception classes about the stages of a butterfly’s lifecycle during break time and lunch time as we have been observing butterflies, cocoons and even caterpillars around the KS1 playground. It’s amazing how many different creatures you can see when you look hard enough. Even in the playground we can see the different diets of animals. We’ve observed the ants and thought about the fact that they are omnivores, after watching them drag insects into their nests as well as leaves.
It’s great to see the Year 2 children being so involved in their learning and experiencing this learning first hand.
Great work Kai!
Biology is amazing!
Fantastic diagram Lethabo!
When I was heading up the stairs to the year 2 classroom I came across a butterfly actually in the process of emerging from its cocoon! I carried it upstairs carefully and gave it to Ms. Holmes, Ms. Jane and the Year 2 children who popped it gently into a butterfly net house. They were obviously delighted and so was I when they thanked me then asked me, "Mrs. Wise, would you like a piece of birthday cake?"
I checked in again later (no, I wasn't hoping for more cake!) and found our new friend safely tucked up in her new home and hanging from the roof so it looks like she has decided to postpone entering the world for now and is happy inside her cocoon for a little while longer. I hope she rebuilds her strength and that we are greeted by a beautiful butterfly on Monday morning that we will be able to study close up and then release into our school garden.

Old Macdonald had a farm!
In Kindergarten 1 & 2 we have been focusing on the story ‘The Noisy Farm’ which ties in with our topic - farm animals! We have also been dressing up in farm animal costumes and exploring various sensory trays. Being in Kindergarten is fun!
Focus on Year 1
Growth and Change
So far in their Growth, Change and Plants Topic, Year 1 students have been able to define a “Plant” and closely observe how seed growing plants change from a seed to a plant. They know the parts of a plant and the function of each part and can talk about how plants are similar and different. This week the students have been working to identify a variety of garden plants and are in the process of creating their own School Garden...
I couldn't choose from the following photographs which to include in this newsletter, I had to include them all!

A message from Mr Robert
With all your professional responses, support and dedication, I would like to say
a very BIG THANK YOU to you all. Without you, the U7 Soccer Jamboree that took place at Heritage last weekend wouldn't have been a huge success. Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Mr Robert.
Reminders
Intentions/Status Form for Parents
Thank you to the parents who have already returned the 'intentions form' regarding whether you are staying or leaving KISU next academic year. However we still have many unreturned. The Admissions Office kindly requests for you to complete and return the form with this important information at your earliest convenience so that the school can plan for the next academic year 2022-23. This information is very useful in terms of staffing, timetabling etc and we appreciate your help and support to enable us to plan effectively.
Basketball Bonanza!
Our U9 and U11 Basketball Teams are scheduled to represent the school in a Basketball Bonanza at International School Uganda (ISU) on Saturday, 21st May 2022 (next week). Coaches and Team Leaders (Ms Cathy, Ms Homes and Mr Robert) will accompany the players and parents have been informed of all necessary details.
We wish them well and hope that they thoroughly enjoy the day, although my competitive nature does mean that I also hope that they come back winners, as well as having had much fun!
Have a happy Basketball Bonanza - thank you staff and parents for making this possible. I will report on how the teams got on in next weeks newsletter!
