Panopto Migration- Instructional Software News from Joe Montemaro
Ensemble was recently purchased by another company called Panopto and we wanted you to inform you of this change before the school year ended. Monroe One BOCES has spent the last several months working with the company to determine how this will affect our usage moving forward. First, all of your content and libraries will be migrated over to Panopto this summer. Your current use of Ensemble and any permalinks, videos that you are using will not be affected in any way. Panopto is an established company that has worked in the higher education realm for many years. BOCES believes the functionality will be greatly enhanced by this merger.
What are the next steps for you? As you prepare for the summer, review videos in your library and purge any that you may never use again. If you have trouble connecting to your Ensemble library you can use the following: WCSD Ensemble Tutorials to help. We will be working with BOCES to create training for the new interface to be available in August/September to help you begin the school year. You can view this video tour of the Panopto Library and have a sneak peek of the platform. Please reach out with any questions you may have.

· Common Core Math 4 Kids (Gr 2-6) - Math strategies for students (Grades 2-6)
· Highlights for Children Reading Practice (Spanish) - A series of very short story videos en espanol. I was unable to turn on closed captions, so really this series should be called Highlights for Children Listening Practice (Spanish). Designed for young children, but could be great for Spanish Language learners at the middle/high school level. (Grades PreK-3)
· Liberty’s Kids (Season 1) – An American animated historical fiction television series, which teaches its viewers about the origins of the United States. (Grades 1-5)
· WordWorld (Season 1) and WordWorld (Season 2) – an American children's CGI animated television series that is based on the books and the wooden puzzles of the same name. The series shows the adventures of a group of animals whose bodies resemble the name of their species, for example, "Dog" has a 'D' for its head and an 'O' and 'G' for its body. Most objects and places are also made of words as well, which include 'Barn', 'Log', 'Drum', 'House', 'Jungle', 'Sub', 'Boots', and 'Pie'. Sometimes an 'S' gets next to a word, and the object starts to multiply. Other objects including clouds, water from a distance, and miscellaneous objects, such as envelopes, and buckets, are not made with letters. (Grades PreK-2)

· 10 Reasons You Should Never Try Vaping - This brand new early intervention video and print program is designed to protect elementary and middle school students from the dangers of vaping by presenting age-appropriate facts and information with a strong no-use message. Four kids, ages 10-13, and an older teenage host lead viewers through a list of 10 reasons why vaping is harmful, including nicotine addiction, damage to the brain, lungs, heart, teeth, and more. Strong graphics and humor reinforce the message that vaping is illegal for kids and dangerous for kids' health. Includes a PDF Teacher's Resource Book with printable activities and fact sheets to reinforce the video's content. (Grades 4-8)
Jr/Sr High Titles:
· Binge Drinking and Blackouts: What Every Teen Needs to Know - Binge drinking is the most common, costly, and deadly pattern of excessive alcohol use in the United States. This program interviews two teenagers who are recovering binge drinkers. Each recounts the details of their drinking and the related dangers including blackouts, hospitalizations, memory loss, and impacts on relationships with family and friends. Expert counselors weigh in on how alcohol binging has become an epidemic problem among teenagers. They share information on how alcohol damages the brain and can lead to various related health issues including addiction. ER doctors talk about what they see and some of the extreme treatments they use to save teens who have passed out, blacked out or worse. This program is a very visceral, candid look at binge drinking from teenagers who have experienced it first-hand and have recovered. (Grades 7-Adult)
