But First: A Self Check-in
What forms of connection make you feel the most fulfilled? We all differ in the kinds of activities that we like to share with others. Some people love to socialize while they explore, whether it is a new nature trail or a coffee shop. Others prefer to bond by engaging in competitive activities like sports or videogames. The good news is that regardless of your interests, there are people out there that want to share those same kinds of experiences!
It is important to be proactive about seeking out these sources of connection, especially during a semester like this. Even though it is good to have a routine, it is also important to be willing to try new things. Take some time out of your day to think about your interests, passions and the things you like to do simply for fun. Are you doing a good job of engaging in these, whether by yourself or with other people? Give yourself permission this week to prioritize fun and connection with others. You'll be glad you did!
Coming Out for Allyship: Building Allyship Series w/ QGrads
QGrads is collecting anonymous stories from any queer or queer-allied community member (students, faculty, staff, etc.) at Cornell that exemplifies either:
1. a time you felt unsafe, unseen, disrespected, prejudged, micro-aggressed, etc., and/or
2. a time when you've experienced (given or received) allyship

What: Cornell Concert Series: Regina Carter
When: Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 7:00pm
Where: Check it out HERE!
Bring your friends along to a concert from the comfort of your home! For GRAMMY-nominated artist Regina Carter, the violin isn’t simply an improvisational vehicle; it’s a passport to unexpected realms. Her quest for beauty combined with her passion for excellence did not escape the attention of the MacArthur Foundation, which awarded Regina their prestigious MacArthur Fellowship “genius grant.”
San Francisco Performances also took note of Regina’s exceptional work, and appointed her Artist-in-Residence for five years. She also served as one of the Resident Artistic Directors for the discerning SFJAZZ during its inaugural season in its spectacular new home. Most recently, the acclaimed violinist was awarded a Doris Duke Artist Award, and in 2018 was appointed as the Director of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center’s All-Female Jazz Residency, a unique summer immersion program for aspiring women jazz professionals.
Interested in Learning About Social and Financial Wellness?
Join the First Well, Wild, & Free Workshop
The first workshop in the Series is called Social & Financial Wellness, and will take place this Wednesday February 24th at 7pm PM EST. To register: LINKTR.EE/CORNELLWRC
Join Women’s Resource Center’s Educator-in-Residence, Bria Hamlet as she explores how the 8 Dimensions of Wellness intersect with the chakra systems. Social and financial wellness aren't typically top of mind when we think of health indicators, but these two dimensions are big players in one's sense of well-being. Learn about money from a new more empowered angle?
Participants will identify broad signs of low social and financial health, how they are connected to systemic inequities, and how person-centered healing can lead to balance in these dimensions. Participants will also engage with how social and financial wellness intersects with the root and sacral chakras.
2020 Vision, A Black Walden Pond & Other Musings
What: An exploration between race and the environment
When: Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Where: Register HERE!
Author of “Black Faces, White Spaces: Reimagining the Relationship of African Americans to the Great Outdoors,” Dr. Carolyn Finney, will share her work on African Americans and environmental issues to consider this moment of racial reckoning and the creative responses to environmental and social challenges that are emerging. Here is a golden opportunity to explore an interest in social justice in ways that you may not have thought of before!
Christian Cooper. George Floyd. Removal of Confederate Statues. Renaming of institutions. Reparations. Systemic Racism. John Muir? What does "environment" have to do with it? How do we meet this moment? Drawing from her book, her relationships “in the field”, her lived experience, and this moment of reckoning, Dr. Finney explores the complexities and contradictions of American history as it relates to green space, race and the power to shape the places we live in our own image. By engaging in “green” conversations with black people from around the country, Dr. Finney considers the power of resistance and resilience in the emergence of creative responses to environmental and social challenges in our cities and beyond.
