Principal's Message
Dear Covington Middle School Community,
We hope this newsletter finds you well and your students thriving as we move into the heart of the fall season. Here are some important updates and events happening at Covington Middle School:
Mark your calendars! Picture Day is just around the corner on October 25th and 26th. This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to shine and capture those memorable moments. We encourage all students to come to school looking their best, ready to show off those bright smiles. Whether it's their favorite outfit or something comfortable, our students always look fantastic.
For our 8th-grade students, an important event is on the horizon. They are scheduled to take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test), a critical step in their academic journey. It's an excellent opportunity to gauge their academic progress and readiness for the future. We encourage our 8th-grade students to embrace this challenge and do their best.
We understand that some parents may have concerns about their child taking the PSAT. If you wish to opt out of the PSAT testing for your 8th-grade student, there's still time to complete the opt-out form. Please reach out to our school office to request the necessary forms and submit them at your earliest convenience. We are here to support your choices and ensure the best educational experience for your child.
We'd like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the parents who participated in or generously donated to our Fall Friendzy event. Your support is invaluable to us, and it goes a long way in enhancing the experiences and opportunities we can provide for our students. Your involvement in our school community is what makes Covington Middle School truly special.
As always, we encourage you to stay engaged with your child's education and participate in school events and activities. Your involvement makes a significant difference in the success of our students.

Yearbook photos will be taken during Science Classes on Oct. 25 & 26. Students should have received order forms from the Science teachers. To order photos, students must bring payment (cash or check) to the photographer on their picture day, or parents can order online at 1stPhotoTexas.com. Covington Counselor's Corner
Hello Covington Community:
GT Testing Begins Oct 25th
Now that GT referrals are complete, we will begin testing the students who have been referred. Parents and teachers will receive Observation Forms for their students. Students will be notified of their testing days and times. All testing will occur during school hours. If you have any questions regarding the GT timeline, please reach out!
8th Grade into High School!
Does your 8th grader need help with planning for high school? Do you have questions about the transition from middle to high school? Are you unsure about the different pathways offered? 8th graders will begin applying to the high school of their choice this semester, and we have several opportunities for them. Please note the upcoming dates for students (parents do not typically attend these events)
Oct. 26- LASA Visit in the Library (Sign Up to Attend)
Dec. 5- Bowie HS Field Trip
Dec. 11- Akins HS Field Trip (tentative, stay tuned for final details)

No Place for Hate at Covington!
Covington Middle School believes that having a school community where your child feels safe and respected is an important foundation to their academic success. That is why Covington will be participating in No Place for Hate®, a national program supporting schools in their commitment to celebrating diversity, promoting respect and confronting bullying at all levels.
Developed by the ADL, a leading anti-hate organization that has worked for over a century to “secure justice and fair treatment to all,” No Place for Hate will help us incorporate new anti-bias and bullying prevention resources into our existing programs in order to have one consistent message of inclusivity.
You and your child can help support our No Place for Hate program in a number of ways:
Ask your child about the No Place for Hate activities hosted during the school year.
Ask your child if they signed the No Place for Hate Pledge
