Dear Families,
Last week our K5 students flooded the hallways of Southwood Glen by putting on an “Old Favorites” parade to celebrate the end of their reading unit. This unit allowed students to develop a love for books and its characters. Some of their personal favorites were… The Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and many more! This was such a fun event for not only the K5 students, but the rest of the students and staff here at Southwood Glen as well!
I look forward to seeing you at parent teacher conferences this Thursday and/or next Thursday.
Yours in education,
Bridget Mowbray
WINTER APPAREL DRIVE
Please see the info below about the Lion Leadership Blue Team's Winter Apparel Drive to support Street Angels. (NOTE: Street Angels accepts adult sizes only.) Thank you!!
ASSESSMENT INFORMATION
Your child will be assessed using a variety of resources that reflect where your child is currently performing in regards to our grade level priority standards from this unit. These scores are determined through analysis of multiple forms of evidence in the classroom throughout the trimester in addition to the work attached to this rubric. Given that each standard is an end of year goal, it is common for students to not yet be proficient in the first trimester as many of these skills are newer to students. Students will continue to work towards proficiency throughout the school year.
VISITOR AND VOLUNTEER PROCESS
As a reminder, if anyone is visiting our schools as a VISITOR or VOLUNTEER, this page on the Franklin website outlines the parameters for how individuals can enter our buildings. This page also includes the steps to follow for being a volunteer, including a background check. Individuals are encouraged to complete these steps early as the process can sometimes take a day or two for completion. We are very grateful for anyone who volunteers with us and helps in being part of a better community!
