North Syracuse Central School District's weekly e-news
Issue #28 | June 4, 2021
Hello North Syracuse Central School District Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Staff!
Welcome to the month of June and the beginning of our final weeks of the 2020-2021 School Year! It certainly has been a unique one! June is filled with many celebrations and this past week, Cicero-North Syracuse High School held their annual awards ceremony with a virtual presentation on YouTube. If you did not have a chance to view the presentation, you can do so by clicking here.
Next week our seniors will take part in the Graduation Walk - going back to their elementary schools wearing their caps and gowns - and the senior ball. These moments will surely be some of the greatest memories for our students.
As we go through the next few weeks, please take time to enjoy the memories that are being made. If you'd like to share your photos and videos with us, please do so. They can be emailed to our school information officer, Laurie Cook, at lcook@nscsd.org or uploaded to our share website by clicking here.
Sincerely,
Daniel D. Bowles, Superintendent of Schools
NSCSD Shining Stars
As we rapidly approach the end of the school year, we’ll be taking time to feature multiple Shining Stars each week.
Mrs. Auyer wrote earlier this school year saying, “I just wanted to take a moment and shine the spotlight on Mrs. Guarno. We all know that education has not been easy, and mostly all of it is new and scary and different right now. Kids need their teachers, their peers and their experiences that come with school. I worry every day for my own children about what this pandemic might be doing to them. Mrs. Guarno has not skipped a beat. The transition, (on my end as a parent) has been flawless.”
We are including last week's Shining Star for a second week due to a technical error that prevented the page from loading properly.
Congratulations to the Cicero-North Syracuse High School Class of 2021 Business and Marketing Honor Society inductees. The C-NS Business and Marketing Honor Society is sponsored by the Business Teacher’s Association of New York State.
2021 is the 11th year C-NS has participated in the honor society. Overall, 26 CNS students, all seniors at C-NS, qualified for the honor society based on the following criteria: minimum GPA of 88 in Marketing/Business Courses; minimum GPA of 80 overall; completion of at least 2 credits of Business Courses prior to their junior year with plans to complete a third credit during senior year; proof of Character, Leadership, and Service provided in the form of a recommendation letter.
This accomplishment allows students to stand out from a pool of applicants on college and job applications now and into the future. Lakeshore Road Elementary School Has Special Visitors
This week, Lakeshore Road Elementary School Principal Tina Chmielewski shared some photos of a pair of special visitors to the school. On Tuesday, June 1, school staff spotted a baby deer camped outside of one of the school's 3rd grade classrooms. After checking the school's camera footage and realizing that the baby had been escorted into the area the night before with the momma deer, they took a quick photo and warned students and teachers to be respectful and stay out of the area. As a precaution, school staff called the Department of Environmental Conservation and were advised to allow the baby to safely wait for the mom to return. Sure enough, momma deer made a return appearance that evening and safely brought her baby home. Thanks so much for sharing the photos and taking care of all Lakeshore Road visitors!

We received the pictures above from Lakeshore Road Elementary School this week.
