A MESSAGE FROM THE BAND DIRECTOR
As we step into the final week of the 2023-2024 marching season, it's incredible to reflect on the journey our students have embarked on since the first day of summer band. A mere three months ago, the marching season was in its fledgling stage, and now we stand at the threshold of an unforgettable campaign.
Looking back at the past week, our students truly demonstrated their resilience and determination. The weather was less than cooperative, with much-needed rain posing challenges for our rehearsals. We had to get creative in finding suitable locations, given the last-minute adjustments. Yet, our students rose to the occasion, displaying unwavering dedication and an extraordinary work ethic. Their commitment to excellence is truly remarkable.
The highlight of the previous week was our participation in the BOA Waco Regional Contest. Despite a rain-filled day, our Jaguar Band delivered an inspiring performance, earning a remarkable 3rd place finish in their division and securing a spot in the finals. The excitement was palpable as they aimed to compete with the best in the event and move up the rankings. However, due to unexpected weather forecasts, BOA made the difficult decision to cancel all finals performances. While this was a surprise for everyone, the Jaguar Band's preliminary scores secured them a well-deserved 5th place in the finals. We couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.
Now, as we look ahead, we have several important events on the horizon. First, a cold Monday rehearsal from 5:00-8:00 PM awaits us. This will be our chilliest rehearsal to date, so it's vital to wear layers to stay warm and comfortable. Layering will allow you to adjust as your body temperature rises during physical activity, ensuring that your focus remains on the rehearsal itself.
Thursday morning's rehearsal is the next key event. We should be prepared for challenging weather conditions and the adjustment of returning to school after a long weekend. Please ensure your calendars and alarms reflect this date. Additionally, our final football game of the year will be on Thursday night, a home game against Westlake HS. This means we'll reschedule our rehearsal to Friday afternoon from 5:00-8:00 PM, marking the culmination of our season rehearsals.
The pinnacle of the week will be on Saturday, with our final performance of the 2023-2024 season at the BOA San Antonio Super Regional. This promises to be a memory-making event as we take the stage at the Alamo Dome, projected on the Jumbotron, and televised through Box5 Media. It's an incredible way to conclude our marching season with a bang.
Let's maintain our momentum, striving to be the best we can be. The dedication and determination our students have shown demonstrate that every day truly is "a great day to be a Jaguar!" Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our remarkable band.
