Kia Ora koutou, nei rā te mihi kia koutou,
Thank you all for your support and adaptability for our school going into home-learning on the 25th of March 2022. During this week we had three staff away affected by covid. A big thank you to our team for managing through this and also to our relievers that supported on those days we were short of teachers. We also had the support of our local partnering school Principal's Hannah Simpson - Kaikōura Primary School and Judith Ford - St Joseph’s both phoned Annie, myself and offered support and help where we needed it.
On Monday April 4th, all going well across the weekend, all our staff should be back. Our wish to you all of our community is that you and your whānau remain well, to those of you in isolation and covid positive we wish you well on your recovery.
We have been approached by Kaikōura Netball to see if we have tamariki wanting to join Saturday netball. There are possibilities for years 4 -6 boys and girls who wish to play. Depending on the numbers the organisation may move to mixed teams to make up for schools that do not have enough players to form a full team. Please contact us to let us know if your children are interested in playing. The fees are $40 for the season and the games are on Saturday mornings.
A reminder of our bus services and pick up times, please can you contact school before 1:30pm if your child or children are not catching the bus. Additionally please let us know if you will be picking them up or whom else maybe doing so. We realise that for some families we have some pre arranged pick up arrangements as well, if these also change please inform us.
If it is on the same day this needs to be a phone call, a note from home or a message on the Skool Loop app. That way we know how to support your children after school. If it is ahead of the day and arrangement change an email is also good.
Please ensure that you pick your children up as close to 3pm as possible. If you are going to be late for any unforeseen reason please phone the school to let us know, this would be appreciated.
At Kaikōura Suburban we have three kai times. These have been designed to support children’s’ learning by 'fuelling their brains' and having a play, eat, learn rhythm to the day. We are finding that some children are running short of food throughout the day. By the time the third break arrives they have no food left, yet are still quite hungry.
Please can you add additional food into their lunches especially if they are coming home empty. That way we can ensure they are getting enough sustenance for their day of learning. Thank you.
During week 11 of term 1, on Monday 11th April and Tuesday 12th of April, 3:30-7pm, we will be holding whānau hui. This will be an opportunity to make a time and meet your child's teacher, talk about how your child has settled into their class and get to know their teacher and get access to the learning that takes place at Kaikōura Suburban. As part of this we also wish to get feedback about our methods and systems of communication. In particular, Hero, Skool Loop, Facebook and email. That way we know that you are getting all the information you need about what is happening at school and any important information.
To book an interview the time slots will be open on the Skool Loop app from Monday 4th April 2022. If you do not have access to this app please contact your child's teacher to make a booking.
Please note that we have a teacher only day on Friday April 8th 2022.
