Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon Templeton Families,
I hope you’re all feeling good about the way 2023 is wrapping up here at Templeton! While I know many of you are excited for a nice long break and the opportunity to spend the next couple of weeks with family and friends, we also hope you’re excited about 2024! We certainly have a lot to be thankful for, as well as every reason to believe that next year will be even better!
Please continue to make attendance a priority in 2024, and even though there’s no school during winter break we hope every student is able to Read, Read, Read as much as possible!
Here are November’s Golden Award winning classes!
From everyone here at Templeton, we wish you a happy holiday season and a wonderful New Year! It’s always a good day to be a Templeton Tiger!
Sincerely,
Rory Moore

Lockdown Drill: December 7
On Thursday, December 7 at 1:40 PM we will be conducting a safety drill at Templeton. This will be to practice our Lock Down procedure. The drill is a standard district-wide procedure intended to prepare our students and staff for an unexpected incident on our school’s campus. As a community, school safety is often on our hearts and minds. Please know that we regularly review our plans and strive to conduct each drill with sensitivity for the experience of all of our students.
We use the following Standard Response Protocol when conducting a Lock Down Drill.
The school is notified of a lockdown over the internal speaker system.
Students gather in a corner of their classroom where they sit together silently.
Staff are responsible for locking the classroom door, turning off the light, taking roll to account for students, and joining students in sitting together as quietly as possible.
Staff and students remain sitting quietly until the end of the drill is announced.
Students will be aware of the scheduled drill and will be walked through the steps of the drill using a school-wide lesson on lockdown protocols. We will conduct all procedures swiftly and calmly. Here is a link that provides some good tips in talking to children about violence, in case the subject comes up.
Although we hope never to use them, our drills are intended to help our students, staff and families be prepared. Tualatin Police Department and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue will be invited to participate and offer feedback. We also welcome your thoughts, questions and/or concerns by phone, email or in person. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you,
Rory Moore

Hello Templeton families,
We have just a couple updates this month:
- Our next restaurant fundraisers are with Pizza Hut on January 30 and Mike's Drive-In on March
- Our Jog-a-thon will be held before spring break on March 21. Landmark Ford will sponsor us, but we will be looking for other sponsors as well. Please see below for details about our different levels for sponsorship.
- OMSI night will be held after spring break on April 3.
- Yearbook orders are due before winter break. We are only taking preorders, so do not forget to order. If you used our giving fund link to order please email president@templeton-pso.org to let us know your student's name and teacher. Please make any paypal orders with this link paypal.me/templetonpso and add your student's name and teacher in the notes.
We will not have a TSO meeting in December due to the busy month ahead and holiday break. We hope you all have a wonderful holiday season.
Please join us for our next TSO meeting the 3rd Tuesday of the month, January 16, at 7 pm!
Become a Jog-a-thon Sponsor
Hello Tiger families!
Do you or someone you know work for a business or organization that would like to be a sponsor for the Templeton Elementary Jog-a-thon? Sponsorship of the Jog-a-thon is a great way to publicize your company or organization while also supporting our school. Your sponsorship contribution helps to fund classroom technology, art and music programs, PE and playground equipment, field trips, and much more! The TSO (Templeton Student Organization) offers different levels of sponsorship that allow businesses and organizations to be highlighted among our community.
Please see the attached Jog-a-thon Sponsorship Letter for a description of what is included at each level. If you are interested in sponsoring, please contact president@templeton-pso.org before February 2024 to secure your sponsorship!
Thank you!
