MAP Testing Updates
Dear Parents,
The first all-school assessment we will take will be our Fall MAP test.
Measure of Academic Progress (MAP)
MAP tests are state-aligned computerized and adaptive assessments that provide useful data and information about student achievement and growth. These assessments are unique in that they adapt to each student’s ability, more accurately measuring what a child knows and needs to learn in the areas of reading and math. In addition, MAP tests measure academic growth over time, independent of grade level or age. MAP test results provide educators with timely information that guides instructional planning and school improvement. The results assist teachers in the following areas:
Identifying the skills and concepts individual students have learned
Diagnosing instructional needs
Determining if academic interventions are warranted
Guiding the selection of academic interventions
Monitoring academic growth over time
Making data-driven decisions at the classroom, school, and district levels
Placing new students into appropriate instructional programs
MAP Testing Schedule
September 19th: Math Testing during periods 1-3 for all grade levels
September 20th: Reading Testing during periods 1-3 for all grade levels
Students will be using their iPads for this test. Please make sure they are fully charged and ready to go each day.
These assessments give us critical information that can help us help your child. Please make every effort to have your child be in attendance on testing days unless they are ill.

Thanks for all your support.
Sincerely,

Barrington 220 Safety Week
Welcome to Barrington 220’s 5th Annual Safety Week! The goal of this week is to raise awareness about school safety among our students, parents, staff, and community members. In addition to the safety drills happening at each of our schools this week, on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, students will view a short video that has a "Safety 220 Tip of the Day". Each tip corresponds with a safety theme for that day of the week. The topics for each day include:
MONDAY, Sept. 11: Welcome Message from Director of Safety and Security, Austin Johnson (Safe2Help, See Something, Say Something, Introduction of our School Resource Officers)
TUESDAY, Sept. 12: Weather Emergencies (tornado drill)
WEDNESDAY, Sept. 13: Run, Hide, Fight (lockdown drill) These videos will only be viewed by students in grades 4-12.
THURSDAY, Sept. 14: School Evacuations (fire drill)
FRIDAY, Sept. 15: Railroad and Crosswalk Safety
Beginning Sunday, August 10th, we will send out the safety tip video for each day. We are intentionally sharing the videos the night before they are viewed by students in school so that parents can have conversations with their children about safety and what to do in an emergency situation.
An additional note about our lockdown drill…
As required by the Illinois School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/20), during each academic year, schools must conduct a law enforcement lockdown drill. This drill shall be no later than 90 days after the first day of each school year.
Law enforcement lockdown drills must be conducted on days and times when students are normally present in the school building and must involve participation from all school personnel and students present at school at the time of the lockdown drill. The appropriate local law enforcement agency shall observe the administration of the lockdown drill.
Also required by the Illinois Safety Drill Act, we must notify you about the upcoming law enforcement lockdown drill and provide an opportunity for you to opt your child out of the drill.
The law enforcement lockdown drill will take place at Station Campus on Wednesday, September 13th, at 9:40 a.m. If you wish your student to be exempted from the law enforcement lockdown drill, please contact Assistant Principal Tim Haupt at thaupt@barrington220.org.
