PRINCIPAL's THOUGHTS
Dear Page Hilltop Families:
We are underway for the 2023 - 2024 school year and it is going to be awesome! The weather has been unpredictable but we are hoping it will turn out to be a wonderful fall season. Tomorrow our preschool students will begin and we will then have all of our students in attendance.
As I have shared many times, the success of your child's educational experiences depends greatly on the strong & effective partnership we maintain between home and school. They are your children and our students. We both love them and want them to succeed in life, beginning with a positive experience in elementary school.
Please reach out to myself, or any of our PH staff, at ANYTIME with ANY questions, suggestions and / or concerns.
I will be hosting monthly "Coffee Chats" and you all are invited to join me if you can. The first one will be on Thursday, September 28th at 9:00am. These chats will be held on different days & times so that I can hopefully provide you all with a convenient opportunity to stop by.
Until then I am at school by 7:00am each morning and you are welcome to stop by or call me at anytime. Feel free to email me also: fdeppe@asrsd.org
Thanks, as always, for sharing your children with us!

OUR FIRST PTO MEETING
Our school year has opened with an engaging PTO meeting last Thursday. We were pleased to welcome over 50 parents and staff to this meeting. A great deal of information was shared with all of our families. Our school adjustment counselors, Tracy Hebenton and Toni Tata, shared thoughts & ideas with our parents on how to help your children enjoy a successful school year. While the grown-ups were meeting, the children were next door being entertained by our friends from "Animal Adventures". This large parent group means that you have met Mr. Deppe's first challenge of having at least 50 adults in attendance. This means that all of our PH students will be enjoying a popcorn party in the near future.
Please plan to join us on October 5th for our next PTO meeting!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS
Be sure to mark the date September 27th on your home calendars. This is the evening of our amazing Open House & Welcome Back Picnic! More details regarding these awesome events will be send home but, for now, we wanted to make sure that you kept the date open.
UNITED WAY DAY OF CARING
We welcome any and all PH parents to join us on Friday and take part in this day of volunteering. Feel free to contact Mr. Deppe if interested.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Several parents approached me at the PTO meeting and asked how they might volunteer at school? We have MANY ways for you to volunteer: help in library, help in classrooms, help at lunch / recess, help with special projects (some of which can be accomplished at home), etc. We will also do our best to set you up with a schedule that is convenient for you, relative to days or week and hours of day. If you have any interest in volunteering with our school community, simply contact Mr. Deppe and we can chat about it. You can reach me at: fdeppe@asrsd.org or by calling the main office: 978-772-8600 x1401.
PAID SUBSTITUTE POSITIONS
There are times when we are in need of a substitute for a teacher and / or paraprofessional who may be absent. If you are interested in being considered for one of these opportunities, please contact Gail J. in the PH office: 978-772-8600 x 1401 OR gjanuskiewicz@asrsd.org
We also need substitute cafeteria workers at times. If interested, please contact Food Services Director Joe Ricci at: jricci@asrsd.org
STUDENT LEADERS
We will soon be gathering together our Page Hilltop Student Leadership Team for the upcoming school year. This group is open to all 4th and 5th graders. We meet after school - once or twice a month to work on various school community projects. The group also helps out during recess at times and helps run some of our assemblies. We go out to the community for social experiences and have a good connection with the senior residents at the Nashoba Park Assisted Living Center. Notices will be coming home soon. If your child would like to ask me for more information, please do.
AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
We are always looking to sponsor various after-school club activities. If you and your children would like to suggest a fun club activity that we might want to consider hosting, I would love to hear from you.
We are always interested in having our PH parents share a talent / hobby with our students. If you think you might be interested, please reach out to me at anytime.
MUSIC UPDATES
We are hoping to be able to involve our chorus in another very special program: The New England American Youth Voices program. If accepted our school chorus will be performing with hundreds of other school chorus members in a concert on June 4th at the Providence Arena. It will be an amazing experience for all of our students.
Parents of fifth graders should also watch for an info flyer coming home that tells you about the 5th grade band program that will be starting up. If your fifth grader is interested in learning how to play an instrument and then playing in the middle school band, this is a way to do so.
We would like to welcome Dylan MacLeod who is a music intern student from UMass-Lowell. He will be working alongside Mrs. Richter for the next 8 weeks.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Are your children all set with basic school supplies? If there is anything you / they need, please let us know and we will help you out.
VETERANS DAY
Our annual Veterans Day program will be held on Thursday, November 9th. This is still two months away but we wanted to give you the date to mark on your calendar. Please share this info with any military personnel that you know.
