Happy Labor Day!
This weekend is our first three-day weekend of the school year in honor of Labor Day on Monday, September 5th. Labor Day is a holiday that honors all workers and the long road they took to ensure safe working conditions for all Americans across all work sectors. If you want to help your child understand the history of Labor Day, take a look at the resources below. This weekend, we honor all of our amazing Patrick Henry workers. Thank you, Patrick Henry staff!

Happy 2nd Week of School!
Getting to Know the Students of Patrick Henry
This week, we moved into academic content in all of our grade levels and continued to build relationships between students and staff and between students as peers. We had so much fun exploring our backgrounds and interests, and finding academic materials that really spoke to every child's "PINs" - Preferences, Interests, and Needs. At Patrick Henry, we believe in the power of seeing yourself in books and in content curriculum, so we have to know our students deeply in order to make sure they see themselves as a Literary Expert, a Mathematician, a Scientist, a Historian, an Artist, an Athlete, and a Musician. Getting to know our students is the best way to help them bridge the gap between themselves and the content areas of school. We loved learning about every student and we loved teaching them new concepts this week. Take a look below for some highlights from our second week of school.
Did you see Ms. Bailey on the news?
Ms. Sherian Bailey, our Special Education teacher, was featured on the news last week! She was filmed right here at Patrick Henry to discuss her alternative pathway to certification. Take a look below for the link to her moment in *lights*! If you are interested in becoming a certified teacher with St. Louis Public Schools, check out the resources below:
Bulletin Boards
Did you know that once a month, our teachers change out their bulletin boards for our students? We love to use our bulletin boards as positive reinforcement for our students to see something happy, silly, or academic throughout the day. Student work is often displayed on our bulletin boards along with positive encouragement. Take a look below for a few new boards of Patrick Henry.
S.T.A.R. Winners!
Every day in Related Arts, every student has the opportunity to earn a "Star" point if they meet all of the expectations of the class. Each week, those students' names are entered into a drawing and we choose a winner to come take a dive in the treasure chest! Congratulations to this week's winners!
New Smoothies in the Cafeteria
Chef Jeff and his team are cooking up a storm in our cafeteria this year! We are now offering smoothies to all of our students, and the flavors change each day! Pictured here are our first smoothies of the school year - peach with a graham cracker topper. They were popular with both students and staff who got to taste test!
